Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with one of their recent products? Their prices are really hard to beat.

I have two of them, one is a 7.62x39 and the other is a 12.5 inch 6.5 grendel. The 7.62x39 well eat and shoot wolf WPA SP under an inch at 100 yards. The grendel pur all three in the same hole.

Going on 5 kits (including 1 friend's I'm familiar with). Occasional slow shipping (but never for me), and unbeatable value.

I want a CHF upper for current build but the Aero Precision is also tempting.

My thoughts are the lower and upper receivers are the housing for the good stuff, which you should spend the money..

I have never had a problem with anything from the affordable up to the "CHF" stuff and everything in between. All have been acceptably accurate for an AR variant with a particular 18" Wylde chambered model shooting one ragged hole groups until I get bored with it. Sold that one. Shouldn't have. But it seems they all shoot almost this good from the reviews. The heavy barrel model that is.

The only thing I have from them is a 9mm lower which works as it should. You don’t see many bad opinions about Palmetto.

Bought my first PSA AR, and rather pleased so far. Reliable through first 750 rounds, and accurate (using Aimpoint Pro - very pleased). No experience with their AK line.

- oddly, you can save a money by buying the AR lower and upper separately when they have deals, rather than a whole rifle. Go figure - the whole rifle is more expensive than upper and lower separately. Potentially a lot of money - during the holidays, I picked up a lower for $119 and the upper for $259. Yes ... an M4gery for $378 ...

Nit picky stuff:
- the trigger pull on the PSA is gritty ... and exactly like the trigger Uncle Sam gives you.
- their nitride finish is different than the conventional anodized finish an AR-15s. Shinier like blued, but much tougher.
- sometimes they get a run of parts that are a bit ... different. For example, on my upper, the delta ring is very glossy - not matte as you usually get.
- the flash suppressor/compensator seems to be thinner metal than I've seen elsewhere. Certainly thinner than the flash suppressor on my Colts, Bushmasters, GI Capco upper, etc... Doesn't really mean anything, just another nit picky point.

Important stuff:
- the PSA rifle is built tight and solid, judging by my sample.
- it's reliable (AKOU brutalized the rifle through 5000 rounds ... it fared well. I'm up to a wimpy 750 rounds, without hiccup).
- it's accurate (reasonably accurate - but if you are going for precision long distance shooting, say 2 MOA at 500 yards, you might want to invest in a different barrel/upper. But for the rest of us mortals, it stacks up just fine at 100 - 200+ yards).
- it's affordable ... a bargain in fact.

Another vote for happy, wife enjoys hers and I got a good price on a combo parts deal (brace/RDS) for my Aero pistol build.

On pricing: an 11% tax is added to the “firearm” by the Feds. If you purchase a $200 lower, in this case the actual “firearm” (receiver), then the 11% is figured in. If the upper you chose is a $800 model then PSA (in this case) would have to charge you 11% on that as well, making it a $1,000 firearm vs $200.

The other interesting option you get when purchasing separately is to build a pistol that can be reconfigured as a rifle and back again at will; something you cannot do if it ships with a buttstock and 16”+ barrel. You may think you’ll never want or need a pistol, but it might be just what you never knew you wanted as was the case for me. Moreover, I now have a pistol upper that can be pinned to all future lowers whether fully assembled or built that will give them the same versatility. Doubly handy should you decide to sell your AR in the future.

Separates pinned together, now always a rifle.

Stripped receiver finished off and first pinned to a pistol upper, forever switchable.

PSA is good-to-go. Their shipping can be a bit slow at times, but I've been so pleased with the four AR kits I bought from them that I have a PA10 kit on the way.

Done a bunch of 556 kits, rifle and pistol without any problems. The ads for killer deals every couple days are hard on the bank account though. Trying real hard to resist a 308 build

ONly thing I have is a BCG so far, for a budget build, REALLY want the MOE+ lower they have, but everytime I scrape enough funds...well, we know how that goes. The BCG I have works perfectly.

I’ve got an A3 upper (A2, but flat top, with carry-handle sight assembly).
It has an FN (or so I’m told) 20” barrel, 1/7”twist. I put it on a DPMS lower with a CMMG A2 butt stock.

I built it to use for practice to keep from burning out the barrel of my Rock River National Match AR, I got for shooting CMP EIC competition.
I put an ALG “improved” service/duty trigger in the DPMS lower and actually prefer it to the two stage match trigger on the RRA.
Although the PSA doesn’t shoot 1/2moa with the 80gr SMK like the RRA will, it’s no slouch with at, or just under 1moa with the $150/1,000 75gr Hornady BTHP.
Now, I have a Nikon P223 3x scope on the PSA. It’s my favorite AR, My every day shooter. Such, that I plan to sell the RRA and just shoot the PSA in matches. I’ll move the Leupold off the RRA to the PSA. It’ll out shoot me. And when it falls off in a few years, I probably won’t still be able to shoot it anyway.

However, my next AR upper will be a BearCreekArsenal 6.5 Grendel...

Skylerbone - just to be clear, if I build out my AR lower (bought back in the dark days possible President Clinton part deux) as a pistol, then later I can snap it to an AR rifle and it's still a pistol?

How exactly does that work? How do I make sure it never becomes a rifle? Or worse yet an untaxed SBR?

Edit:And can the ATF (perhaps at the direction of a future president) suddenly decide all the AR pistols are SBRs and require people surrender or destroy them?

I've been real impressed by PSA. Their AR15 kits work. Their uppers feed, function, and fire reliably. Accuracy is good enough.

Decent price on a pistol kit:

Review:

I'm going to show an embarrassing amount of ignorance, but doesn't putting a buttstock on it make it a short barrelled rifle requiring a tax stamp?

Ok, so this article on pistol braces has the statement that in order to be an AR pistol, the lower receiver has to be marked as a pistol on the DROS when you buy it. I doubt I had the dealer do any such thing, so my lower receiver is probably a rifle. The whole thing seems shrouded in mystery and confusion and subject to reinterpretation by the ATF. I think I will avoid the subject for now, at least for this lower.

As long as it's a pistol first it can be changed to rifle configuration and back.
The bump stock ban is certainly a slippery slope to other end arounds of the law, which could include some kind of a ban on arm braces.

Sometimes slow ship. They'll notify you that an order has shipped that actually hasn't. The order may set on their dock for 5-7 days longer before its picked up. I think they want to bill your credit card as soon as possible. MidwayUSA pulls the same crap which has caused me to buy only from them what no one else has. I'm about to put Palmetto on that list.
Quality of PSA stuff is good, C/S is not
