My dad has a Marlin model 60 that has the bolt stuck open. He shoots the bird shot out of it for pest control. I know these rounds do not have much power and dont cycle the bolt on a semi auto. Any idea what would cause the bolt to get stuck open? Anything look off in the picture?

Can you get a better shot of the action angled down into the opening? Early M60s have a 2-peice feed throat held together with pins which can seperate and cause issues.

Could be some debris in there jamming things up too.

In any event, these are easy to dissasemble, and the problem will likely present itself if you remove the action from the stock.

My old Springfield 87A .22 auto has the same bolt hold open feature. For easy cleaning I think. Glad you got it figured out. 60's are good rifles but need to be kept clean, not just the barrel but the action too. hdbiker
