I'm a sucker for oddball things. I once dropped a 350 Chevy in a 1964 Rambler American. With that said, I had to walk away from a GB enticement. There's a '60 Miroku snubby up for sale that caught my eye. Has a good story and needs rebluing. I walked away from it. Anyone else battle this disease?

Yes. I like wierd in general. 16” .357 buntline, 9.5” single six, Colt New Line, yeah...I like odd. I haven’t been fortunate enough to start collecting obscure brands, but I have been bidding on them and losing frequently. I especially am intrigued by guns from in between the American Civil War (war of northern aggression) and WW1...maybe prohibition era.... So much technological development is represented in that time frame that it is hard to believe just how much was changing at the same time. Design, metallurgy, fashion, function, purpose... very cool time.

So what are some of your oddballs? Let’s turn this into a picture thread!

I have been known to buy some things that had no actual purpose for me. Cases in point: a couple of black powder .38 S&W topbreaks, a Colt Vest Pocket, everything I could find that was chambered in 9mm Mak, some revolvers in .32 Long, stuff like that. Someday I'll find a .38 S&W Terrier.

Revolvers? No. I had a crooked-cut cylinder Rossi that soured me on off-brand, lower cost revolvers. (Now a Korth, that’s different!)

Autos? Those I’ll give a try... I have a Helwan 9mm, an AMT Backup .380, an FEG SMK-.380, and an Iver Johnson TP .22 sprinkled in with the Glock-Beretta-Ruger-Smith-Springfields....

Stay safe!

Of course, Dad also has one of these hideousities kickin around-

It goes bang most of the time......I think he keeps it in a baggie in the toilet bowl, lol.
I had the same one for a little while. Got it at a pawnshop on State Street in Salt Lake shortly after turning 21. Forty bucks because it was used and actually wasn't a bad shooter. Only issue was that vent rib would keep loosening up every 50-60 rounds. Another shop gave me twenty bucks for it off a S&W 39 that caught my eye.

My dad has one as well. It’s been his revolver since he was 18. I will inherit it one day. Along with a few store brand rifles and shotguns. That 38 was the first handgun I ever shot and I like the gun well enough for what it is. It’s one of those guns that I think had they made them out of slightly better materials and put a little more love into them then they would be at least on par with Taurus. The design is decent, the materials and execution of build is lacking. Plastic grips don’t help it at all though.

Englishmn...Nice rig! You been laid up? Glad you're able to get out and shoot! In '14 & '15 I was in the penalty box recovering from surgeries and it was necessary therapy to get back outdoors and shoot.

Hi...
About to he only "odd" revolver I have is a top break Webley that was converted to .45Colt by somebody.
I bought it used for next to nothing.
I shoot it every once in a while with light loads with lead bullets. It is inaccurate...the barrel is marked .476, so it is probable that the bullet doesn't obturate to seal the bore so the bullet just sorta wobbles on down the barrel.
It's a neat looking revolver being nickel plated with a blued cylinder and a black birdshead type grip.
Everytime I take it to the range people ask to shoot it so others must like the way it looks also.
Basically just an oddity that I keep around for an occasional range trip that has zero practical use.

Englishmn...Thanks for the link. That whole deal reads like a novel! Glad you're on the daylight side of that injury.

Obscure guns? Me? Surely not...
Just got this custom Hawes/J.P.Sauer & Sohn .45 back from Cerakoting

I had a Hy Hunter, forerunner of the Hawes line, in .357 Magnum that I bought on a whim. Bought it as a project gun, did a litttle customizing then set it aside. And of all the luck, ran across a collector who wanted it! I was happy to get rid of it, and he was happy to acquire it!

"Haha, I was wondering when someone would mention the Hawes/Sauer!"

I had one for a while. It was a 44 magnum, was pretty tight, and it shot very well. I gave it to my FiL as a Christmas gift one year. It's still a good shooter. He shoots 44 specials out of it every once in a while. It will last pretty much forever at this rate.

Yes, I like oddball revolvers. I have a Cobray Pocket Pal, which is what you get if you try to turn a Mossberg Brownie into a revolver but can't decide if you want a 5-shot 22 or a 3-shot 380 ACP, so you make it both (but not at the same time):

BTW, I have not fired this gun. The trigger pull is indescribably bad, and I have too much respect for the power of 22 rimfire, let alone 380, to fool around with this thing.

I also have a Miroku, an Arminius, and a Rexio Pucara (the latter two are both 7-shot 32 Longs).

Be careful about taking the sideplate off the Miroku. On mine, at least, there are spring-loaded gizmos mounted in the sideplate that have to engage with moving parts in the frame, and getting them to mesh is NOT my kind of fun.

Oddball?

Here are a few antiques (pre-1899)

How about this Forehand and Wadsworth 2nd Model Army? Chambered for 44 Russian. This one is a project gun, it needs a little bit of work before I can fire it.

Or my Merwin Hulbert 44-40 2nd Model Pocket Army. Yes, I have shot it at several CAS matches.

Or this Merwin Hulbert 38 Pocket Pistol. It needs a little bit of work, but I expect to fire it someday too.
