Walther Pistols...

....if you could only own one Walther pistol, which would you choose.....please, this is a serious question, and I need your true thoughts...thanks in advance for your input..
So I can own lots of guns, but just one Walther... to me, that screams "classics". I can have 'other' guns to fill roles.
I suppose I would go

1) PP/PPK in .32 acp. Classic Bond styling. Even though I own lots of other blowbacks, any time I see that shape, my first thought is "Is that a Walther?"
2) P-38. Another classic pistol, one I strongly considered bumping up to the top. I'd rather have a Luger or Broomhandle if I could choose any WW2 German gun, so that's why I drop it below the PP's
3) P-88, because I hear that it's the absolute bestest Wonder Nine, and I like those.

Just an interesting tidbit - I had some official mail I recently sent out, and the address included a "mail code" (whatever that is) that was PPK32. I immediately thought of the Walther.

Only one left.
Tried a PPK or two as on duty backup weapons over the years.
Keep one for the Bond factor and it happens to be a good shooter as well.

I have a P38 that is very accurate and reliable.
I had a TPH which was not reliable.
I used to own a West German PPK/S in 9mmKurtz which was a good all around gun.
I own an original Party Member marked 1930s PPK in 7.65mm which bits my hand.
My PPS-M2 is a good shooting little gun that i have not been able to make malfunction yet. ( 500 rounds without cleaning so far)
I always wanted a Walther P5. It was used by 007 in Octopussy and in Never say Never. I used to work with a guy who had one. It was a VERY nice shooting gun. You never see them anymore and they are worth around $1600 to $1750 on the used market. View attachment 232910

I have only one Walther pistol that is a NIB P5 (version #6) and I only bought it to collect it. At the time I had purchased it I didn't know that a friend of mine also had a NIB P5 as well as a NIB P99 AS.

I had a .380 PPK/S. Sold it. Have a TPH and a P22. The TPH will outshoot the P22. It's a very handy little gun. You do need to watch the web of your hand as it will bite if you do not. And mine is totally reliable - likes CCI mini-mag or Winchester Super X. So for only one Walther for me it would be the TPH.

P99 AS. last gen, extended mag release.

PPQ to P99 - "i'm the coolest kid on the block, plus you killed my father".

P99 to PPQ - 'NO, I AM your father".

Glock and Steyr M/A1/A2 - "we're your cousins".

Those are legit Walthers, sold under the Walther name. I used to own a "St Etienne" marked PPK/S.
Yeah, but made by others.

When it comes to 380, the Sig P230/232 is far superior, in my opinion. Not saying the PPK is bad. I just find it a much better gun in its original caliber.

Good luck either way.

I have a PPQ M1 that I like, I carry it in cooler months when I wear a jacket. I wanted a PPK/s but bought a LNIB Sig P230 instead. I have a Iver Johnston TP 22, a cheap copy but a good gun, that is accurate in spite of its sights.
If I only had one, as if you are going to give it to me, I would want the steel frame Q5.

Excellent thread...……..great history lesson. Only own one Walther, a PPS 40 I picked up as they were being discontinued. Really like it.

None of the new ones.

I had a P-38 one time. Now I know how the Germans lost WW2.

Always thought an Ultra would be nice but the ammo would be hell to find. Still tempted to buy one just so I can say I bet you've never seen one of these before. I've actually had one in my hand and almost bought it until I looked at the 9x18 stamped on the slide. Price was right, should have bought it. Been regretting that ever since.
