What do you do with the hook on the back of a SAK?

I (almost) felt discriminated for not having a hook on any of my SAKs, but then I remembered that I do almost all of those things with my fingers. But then again, they don't bend like string cheese when I'm opening a (beer) can... ;)

i have used it in one weird way, when i was 13 i was out rabbit hunting. it was about 10 degrees out. shot 2 that day. when i was unloading my 10-22, i dropped the mag. it landed on a rock, right on the rim of the 22 round in the mag. that round when off, i check all was ok. when i got home, got my boots off and it was full of blood. the 22 when thru my jeans, and about 1/2 inch in to my leg. just right of my kneecap. i did not even feel it. the year before i had a bad bicycle wreck and cut that same spot. i needed 30 some stitches the cut was 6 inches long.
the reason i did not feel the bullet was that area is always numb even today. and it was so cold my legs were numb to. i used that hook to pick the bullet out. seams to have a million and one uses.

I've owned 6-8 SAK's over the years. The hook is news to me. Never seen one with that feature.

Mine came in handy the last time i was required to do an impromptu mummification on a pharaoh. Its a bit short for getting ALL of the brains out, but the Inox was a snap to clean up.

Ok, I have the vaguest of memories that there is something specific to the K-31 that the hook is specifically meant for. But, hanged if I can remember what.
I thought it was a package hook, to carry packages tied up with twine. Not as much use for that anymore, of course.
