Must be D&L guns on West Shore Road, they have several on display, all priced one cent under a thousand bucks.

Glad I bought mine years ago when I did. I think I paid about 400 for my stainless 7 1/2 inch barrel.

These are not newly manufactured ROA's, these are ROA's that have likely been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. If Ruger was making new ROA's in their factories, investors would know about it and believe me, Ruger would be advertising it.

$1000 for a new ROA beats the used one I saw at a gun show in NH a few weeks ago for $1200.

I recently bought a new Blue fixed sight 5.5" in the box Ruger Old Army. I called Ruger to ask when it was manufactured. They said October 2017. They said several were made between 2015 and 2017. Mine is a very nice model 01411. They said it was not a Talo.

I wish ruger made a .36 cal. That would be amazing for me. I think its a very underestimated and underappreciated caliber.

Well I own three, all fired on a regular basis, no boxes, two stainless, one blue, all long barrels. At $1000 plus each, ya I might be induced to sell.

Not really, the parts are all simple 3 dimensional (which means they could be whittled out if necessary) and plungers of specific length/clearances and compression springs. That's the brilliance of the design! It would take quite a while to actually need parts replacement (as long as you take care of it). I think the "3 screw series " is genius!!

As much as I love my ROA there’s no way I’d pay that much. I truly wonder how it stacks up against one of the expensive match grade NMAs.

It all about supply and demand.
Think about it for a minute.
If there's 325 million Americans and there were only 200 or less made in a special run, that's not very many to go around and only about 4 per state.
I wouldn't blame anyone who wanted one badly enough to pay the asking price.
And if a conversion cylinder were to be added, there probably isn't any better option of equal quality.

Since so many people already have theirs, it easy to say they wouldn't want to pay the price.
But if someone can afford it then the price isn't so bad.

"A gun can get you through times without money better than money can you through times without a gun" ;)

But is it better than a match grade repro? I doubt it, though I couldn’t say whether or not the steel and parts are better than standard repros. I assume they are.

And I can understand them being more expensive merely because of the small run, though many parts are common to the Blackhawk still.

Clearly some are willing to pay that. There were those willing to pay that price range for used too. I got mine in a swap for a Taurus Tracker. But even if I didn’t have mine I’d still not pay that price. My NMA isn’t quite as accurate but it’s still been a good gun.
