Antigun Gov. Ralph Northam just announced that he will call the legislature into special session this summer, to reconsider his package of gun bills in the wake of the Virginia Beach shooting. It was rejected out of hand by the Republican-controlled legislature earlier this year, but now some Republicans are saying they are willing to consider some measures.

Northam's plan includes a complete ban on suppressors, a ban on hi-cap magazines, and an alteration of state preemption to allow localities to prohibit guns in certain buildings. (These would directly address what happened in Virginia Beach.) Other things being advocated by Northam include universal background checks, a limit of one handgun a month for purchases, and a "red flag" procedure for seizing guns. Northam also wants a state assault weapons ban.

Given his other proclivities, this is hardly a surprise.

A lack of intellect, honesty and human decency is a prerequisite for pushing racially invidious gun controls.
