DPMS 223

It will depend on the FFL transfer fee. The lower is all that has to go through an FFL. The rest can be shipped to your door.

Besides the cost of shipping (which you would pay to the seller,) my FFL charges $10 for a transfer... so it's perfectly reasonable.

Depends... some sellers have free shipping (think online company) or most will list what they will charge to ship... generally in the $20-40 range, but it depends. If you are having a long gun shipped, you want to make DANGED sure the seller packs it correctly. I'm sure there are plenty of horror stories here about improperly packed long arms...

Got a new DPMS Orical Fri. $512 out the door, I put 90 rounds through it preformed
flawless !!! One thing I dislike, is it didn't have a swivel stud on forearm for a sling. The lower stamped multi ammo , bottom of barrel stamped 5.56 nato. It has a lightweight barrel and dose not have a chrome chamber ,1:9 ROT , overall finish is good !!
The trigger is 5 lbs. not that bad for an economy Entry level AR , soon to be hog control gun in work.

Congrats on the new Oracle! If you really want a sling there are other ways to attach a sling to the front. IIRC the Oracle has a short rail on the gas block. There are rail attachments that will take a sling if you use a red dot sight.
There also are ways of attaching a sling near the base of the buffer tube.

My Frankengun has a DPMS barrel. chrome lined 1 in 9. Is the 11.5 +5.5. like my old pre ban Bushmaster and ER Shaw bbls......no probs. Good enough to be a fun varmint rifle

It didn't say that it has a chrome chamber or not . Shot well !!! Like to get a night vision scopes now.

Oracle would be a good budget rifle. I started with a lo pro classic way back in 2009. Then bought an ap4 in 223. Then bought a lr-308. Then bought a tac-20 and then another ap4 in 308.
I’ve had a few brands over the years too but I say all that to say that they work. It won’t save the world but it will get you in the game.
Buy it cheap, stack the ammo deep and go shoot the crap out of it.
You’ll have fun!

Range report today. Fed. 5.56 Ammo. 55gr.
3×9 cheep walmart scope. Soso 3 in.group
at 100 yds.The round hand guard has got to go, it's not the best for sighting in a scope . I prefer a flat squared off base hand guard .
Preformed well 60 rounds no jams.

I have a D. P. M. S. LR-308 in .308 and one of their M4orgeries in 5.56mm. I changed out the handguard on each; the .308 got a Midwest Industries quadrail and the 5.56 got a Magpul polymer forend.
Those chunk style barrel forends and I just don't get along. Thankfully changing them is easy.

I don't know much about ARs and only have one. A DPMS Lightweight carbine. Light weight is what I wanted. I like it. The trigger pull is long and needs to be corrected and it has a fat forend. I tried to get the forend off but couldn't get the upper and lower halves to seperate while I held the Delta ring back. I really need a tool for that. I have only fired 80 rounds through mine. I bought a Rock River carry handle that was brand new for $100 and added it. I didn't want to scope the gun. Here is the one I have.

I wish I had one that looked like a real Vietnam era rifle with fixed butt and triangle handguard. I bet if someone made them they could sell them.

Check the Brownells website. They are selling a "retro" version.

I'll look at them. I am not in the market right now but every time I watch Platoon or Southern Comfort I get the urge for a retro AR. But the one I have serves it purpose. I see the utility of the adjustable buttstock. Thats was a pretty good idea.

OK Shanghai I checked the Brownells retro AR-15. Thanks a lot. Now I want one. But can't afford it. But yes, thats just the look I like and the weight was a light 6.13 pounds. Perfect. The 1/12 twist doesn't matter to me either. All I shoot are 55gr bullets. Thats all I have in my ammo and component bullets on hand. Now I gotta go watch Platoon again.:p

Unfortunately, the retro rifles are like the one AR niche where prices haven't cratered.

The price for the Brownells rifle is fair ($900-$1000 IIRC?). My knockoff shooter build was $800, and it doesn't have any of the little details like the round front sight post or the A1 receivers (ended up with a weird A1 carry handle with an A2 dust cover and deflector). Brownells will send you a complete rifle with all that stuff right for like $100 more. If you price out all the components, I think it would be tough to beat it with a home build.

One of these days, I am going to buy their XM177 clone. It doesn't do anything the 16" carbine I already have won't, but the carry handle and faux-moderator just scream cool.

That tool really helps!!!

Ruger's AR-556 has a delta ring that unscrews by hand, which I think is a very smart idea for people who are going to change handguards. It isn't mil spec, and one can question how often such a thing is useful, even though Ruger's standard handguard is eminently replaceable, most people will only do it once .... but someone at Ruger was thinking.

Glad I was able to "help"... ;)

Due to an onset of old fart nostalgia I've been wanting one as well.
Bit beyond my means currently but they seem to be a good price for what you are getting.
