May-June 2019 rimfire handgun 10 shot challenge

I've tried multiple times from 25 yards with Ruger MKIII 22/45 with iron sights...
Try switching ammo. Some .22s seem to have a definite preference, even between two of the same model. And it’s difficult to figure out what your gun likes without trial & error.

I’m also finding my 22/45 with plain black sights does better for me than the one with a fiber optic front sight. Not sure if it’s the gun or the sights or both.

I shot 10 different types for groups at 15 yards before I settled on automatch for this pistol (out of the ammo I have). It was by far the most accurate. I just can't shoot at 25 offhand. I can hit plates just fine... but that 10 ring is pretty dang small....

I am considering swapping back the OEM black front sight though.

By the way, these monthly challenges are getting pretty expensive. I just ordered a .22 conversion for a Glock 19, so I should be able to post some targets from that one in the next week or so.
:D

I managed to make it out this morning. Beautiful sunny day.

I brought out the FrankenRuger. I had found a MK-II lower and bolt for sale a while back. Later on I matched them up with a 5.5” MK-III upper. I usually run this setup with a cheap red dot. I shot with the optic first today, and then pulled it off for the iron sight classes.

And in the “just for fun” category, I brought out the little mouse gun. I had to aim for the upper right corner of the paper to put them in the black. But once I figured that out, it didn’t do too badly.

It also doesn’t like to run on target ammo or even the Fed. bulk pack stuff. The MiniMag ammo ran flawlessly, though.

I had forgot about 22 conversion units, I dug my Marvel Commander Unit 1 out of the safe and put it on a Les Baer frame. As always eye fatigue gets me every time, I start out good and then get some wobble after 6 or 7 rounds.

Same here. My shooting and reloading mentor was a bullseye match shooter and I lack the patience he had. (I have hard enough time shooting between heartbeats at 50 yards looking through a scope)

Being an "action pistol" shooter at heart, longest I could manage is like 30 seconds for 10 shot group or I will fall asleep. :D Maybe we could have a "rapid fire" match in the future. ;)

I recently picked up a GSG 1911 so I will give it a go for this match.

Give me some ideas for a "timed" challenge, like time limits or certain rules. I already have a Idea for another challenge but not sure some of you will like it, lol it would be one handed shooting ONLY....going old school.

I suggest timed fast point shooting at 5/7 yards with eyes open (no use of sight/taped front sight) and eyes closed. ;):D

So as noted above, I bought a .22 Glock conversion. I got it for the smaller G19/23 size frame. I bought the TacSol version, but now I’m wondering if I should have gotten the AA or Ciener. It’s just a little annoying that I get one for the smaller frame, but apparently they only provide a G17-length mag. Oh well.

I bought this one because it was the only one I could find in stock that came with a threaded barrel. I shot for groups both suppressed and noisy. It seems to shoot the same either way, but I was getting mirage off the can after only a few rounds, so I ended up shooting best unsuppressed.

I tried shooting CCI SV, MiniMag, and Stingers. The Stingers did best for me at 15 yds. I shot the exact same score of 81 with all three types of ammo at 25 yards.

Glad to see some more revolver entries, one gun on my want list is a .22 magnum just like my K22, I think it's called a model 48. This thread also has me now wanting a Colt match target, a target version of my grand dad's Huntsman
