I am not to see Chris Cox go.
There are still major issues, but, he was one of the problems.

We are not shed of Wayne and his gang yet. Looks like the corruption of more widespread than most anybody expected. First up it would be in order to restore the NRA. Get rid of the money grubbers and propaganda machine. This means pull back from the radical stuff that has nothing to do with firearm ownership or the shooting sports. Audit and accountability!.

He is suspended pending an audit.

Very logical.

Don’t believe Wayne is pure, but can definitely see Ollie conducting an Et Tu Brutus action as well.

Seems like, internal to the membership only, a total housecleaning might br appropriate.î

NRA saying ''see lookie, we are working on the problem '' allllll the while, business as usual perhaps?

Just stay within the lines but color me SKEPTICAL

My point is that with all this alleged funny business is the NRA is on a self induced path of destruction. I'd prefer my interest be represented by a solid organization with transparency. I had been an NRA member on and off since 1955. I do not remember anything like this current scandal when the old men who were hunters and target shooters were in charge. I ask again how long has all this activity been going on. I'd be reluctant to say all Democrat's want to take the NRA down. However, if the NRA was not a wholly owned subsidiary of a certain political party maybe it would be different. Check out the NRA TV.

au·dit
/ˈôdət/
noun
  1. 1.
an official inspection of an individual's or organization's accounts, typically by an independent body.

Who is the independent body we would have do that?

You can read history books from different Countries and see who gets to write them. Well, with the exception of this one but that’s because we are “free”.

Who is the independent body we would have do that?

Normally, this is done by accounting firms. However, under the circumstances it looks like the state of New York and governmental law enforcement agencies. I do not intend to suggest these agencies are independent as we have seen in recent years. The entire mess is in free fall.

Addendum: How many people is Wayne's click are actual shooters or hunters? I don't know.

75 Board members would seem to run the NRA. See their Term Limits.

I'm thinking of the men on top, in addition to board members. it seems to have become a cash cow for some, maybe not firearms related people at all.

How long has Wayne been there?

It seems to have changed from a member run organization to a professional staff with lots of self interest.

So the very liberal, anti-gun media keeps a running narrative of negativity about the NRA (the largest, most effective pro gun lobbying group in the country). The same tactic they use against all their enemies (that would be all of us). I would think you guys could see through this tactic by now.

No offense, but has the NRA truly done anything for gun rights? I know for a fact that haven’t for at least 20 years. Way I see it, unless they actually fight for gun rights in the courtroom instead of doing fear campaigns and grabbing money. Maybe it’s best for them to fade away and be replaced by a group that’s for gun rights.

What NRA has done is funnel money from its members, through its political action committee, NRA-ILA, to ostensibly pro-gun political candidates. When a candidate receivers $10 from you or me, it goes unnoticed; when a candidate receives $100k from NRA-ILA, our combined voiced are heard, if only for a moment.

One problem is that the funnel has a huge whole in it, and a lot of our money leaks out. Another problem is that some of our money goes to support things like bump stock bans. Mark my words: the day is coming when the NRA throws you under the bus as well

Yep, La Pierre and his minions are whining that the media is attempting to destroy the NRA. Meanwhile the NRA is spending $90,000 of donated money per day on lawyers.

The New York attorney general is investigating the NRA for violations of their tax exempt charter. La Pierre's decision to air NRA dirty laundry before the NY justice system is industrial strength ignorant.

WSJ isn’t exactly the liberal MSM. Next, factually reporting suits and statements, even in the NYT isn’t tin foil hat time.

Really? How old were you 20 years ago? I hear this a lot from those who were not involved in the fight, then show up telling those of us who were ow little we did? No offense? Are you serious?

No offense taken. I take statements like "I know for a fact" with a large grain of salt.

If the NRA fades away without a very well funded, very well established group to take it's place we lose big time. Currently the NRA is a massive political lobbying group standing in the way of the anti 2A movement. While I'm not crazy about the role they play right now it's needed at this particular time.

Fake news. Nothing to see here. Move along. (Sarcasm)

Please. Seriously, please. Use critical thinking skills and use the time it takes to mindlessly bash a “liberal” or (liberal source) and look up some undisputed facts, however small and basic they are, and then form an opinion.

There are many firm “no-gos” I have with liberals. More with conservatives. I will still accept facts from either one about many topics because, well, facts are facts, and one should be able to know the difference and not blindly trust, or dismiss, information based on political ideology. The left doesn’t have a monopoly on mistruth.

If one keeps winnowing down their sources of information based on strict political ideology he or she will find themselves in a very small tribe - of one.

Wayne Lapierre is a bad steward of my organization and unworthy of future donations. Chris Cox was just as bad with some of his rhetoric. So was Oliver North. The NRA needs to be gutted...er...filleted. It needs to be filleted like a salmon and the whole useless carcass thrown back to the circle of life and only the best part kept: Gun rights. Training. Youth programs. Apolitical information about why citizens should care about responsible firearms ownership and use.

The days of the big gun lobby are dead. The fight is in the courts and other organizations can effectively do that if the NRA can’t survive due to massive failures of leadership.
