What privately owned companies still make rifles (not AR's or the like, traditional rifles) here in the USA? I can think of Dakota Arms, Kimber, Henry and I think Mossberg. Maybe Ruger, not sure if they're private or publicly traded.

There are dozens, possibly hundreds of small onsie twosie manufacturers out there, that build custom guns.

ATF issues a manufacturers report annually that lists ALL 07 FFL holders and their reported production.

Ok, after a brief search, both Ruger and Dakota are public, Dakota under the Remington banner.

CSM (Conn. Shotgun Mfgs) is a surprisingly large firm now making an amazing large variety of firearms: Everything from single action revolvers to the finest double shotguns ever made in America. Owned by Tony Galazan, a true firearms genius.

As mentioned, there are lots of FFL's who are licensed as firearms manufacturers, and it would be hard to guess how many of them make limited production firearms. It is also not easy to tell how the ownership of small company is arranged.

But with that said, there are two small manufacturers of traditional firearms that immediately come to my mind, Cooper Firearms of Montana and Big Horn Armory. A friend of mine, who is sadly no longer with us, owned a couple of Cooper bolt action rifles. I got to shoot them quite a bit, they were everything you would hope for. I have not had the chance to handle a Big Horn Armory lever action rifle, but I hope I will eventually get to do so. I have been told that their big bore lever actions feel as good as they look in pictures. And in pictures they are gorgeous.

I believe that Ruger and Smith&Wesson are the only US firearm manufacturers of any significance that are publicly traded companies. The conglomerate Vista Outdoors owns Savage but they are just a small part of the company.

Back in the 90s I had to pick a stock to follow as a school project. We went back X amount of years and invested x amount. I picked Ruger. I made nearly nothing in my hypothetical project, maybe even lost. This was back during the AWB. I'm sure things would look better now.

I know kelgren ran Grendel aground but is Keltec privately owned?

Your three shotguns are absolutely gorgeous! Any one of them would be privilege to own!

Thanks for sharing!
