Electrician at work has a buck in state recordbook....thats about a half inch smaller than mine ( same county) so my name right above his. Good sport. Was asking me if I had a pic of it on phone. Did and showed him the little one I got last yr.

He said Hey....its got a double throat patch. I was yeah.....seen others with it.

Checked my other pics.....yup shot two of them from that little woods. Texted bud and told him to check pics too.

So ive taken 3 w double patch....two from one woods. And that same woods also gave me my first deer w a mane.

The deer w a black mane. I could see it from 80 yards or so.
Have seen a lot of deer, and only three others with manes (other people shot).
First one seen/shot.
Have yet to see a drop tine buck too.
Most of what I see and shoot are just boring small deer.
They taste pretty good though.

The mane or whatever the heck you call it, stuck straight up.
Weird and so black as to be visible at first glance.

Texted my hunting bud and told him to go through all the pics of the deer he's shot out there, see if any double throat patches.

Only live deer I've ever seen with one.
Hadn't seen a dead one with a mane in the last 20 yrs.
Maybe longer.

Your a yr too late .........sold it
Would cloverleaf 3 at 75 yards (only 4X scope).
Factory WW PSP 100gr or 95gr DXP
Forend screw at 15 in lbs.

Bland wood. But still too nice to hunt in rainy weather (the opener the yr after I shot the pic in the pic was a monsoon).
I have a beater 760 in .35 rem, and a Steyr Pro Hunter in .30-06 for crappy days now (the 760 is walnut but dinged all over- so who cares).

Of course this leaves me open to purchase a #1A in .243 w better wood ;)
But not as a primary gun.

The RSI has a 20" bbl. The A has 22".
I want the A.
When I shot the buck w the mane I noticed the blast off that shot.
