What is going on in the NRA? Is this Hickok trying to remain viable on YouTube? I would be mightily disappointed with Hickok if so. He’s always promoted the NRA.

Or is this corruption within the NRA? Is this what North was trying to root out?

Can’t trust the mainstream media to accurately report on this, so you have to go around them.

Good the NRA is a dumpster fire at the moment and if I was a public figure like Hickok45 I would also disassociate myself from the NRA. I am a life member of the NRA and they will not get another dime of my money until the leadership is changed. The mishandling of members' money, corruption, and nepotism within the NRA that has come to light lately is unacceptable and they are no longer an asset in the 2A fight. Until things change I personally cannot support them anymore. YMMV.

But I would take it directly from the Horse's mouth. Hickock45 has released his position with his reasons why.

Hard to guess as to what the true root of the problem actually is. You know the media will spin it any which way, the NRA will spin it in a light most favorable for current leadership, and anyone whose been ousted has an ax to grind.

If these guys want a strong NRA like they claim, then why not be pro active about it?
If they can't be pro-active due to NRA's leadership, then why be negative (if they really want a strong NRA as they stated?)
Just stop doing the NRA membership spiel and the less said the better.

They tap dance around the issue("we don't know what's going on") so handily I've got to wonder if being connected to the NRA is a red flag with the You tube administrators, and this announcement is just a way to keep Hickok 45's You tube cash cow alive?

I had a hard time understanding what Hickok was really saying when I first saw this this morning. He still supports the NRA and hopes they do well but is suggesting that no one joins or donate to them ? At the same time if membership drops drastically the NRA does not stand a chance. Maybe he could have started by suggesting something like a massive e-mail campaign for them to get their ---- together before jumping straight to no support.

Near as I can tell, this is entirely about dropping NRA ads & sponsorship on his YT channel, and nothing more.

Which might be a good idea if you have any uncertainty about from who/whom the funds are coming and whether those disbursements are approved or not.

And that is an issue since there are various reports of ad money being misused, or used without permission, and just simply used for internal politicking.

I would not want my channel (if I had one) to crop up in an article reading like "[Accused] is alleged to have funneled money [without permission, or slated fo another purpose, or meant to be used differently] to such things as [putative YT channel]..."

This is s good take on the situation with Tim (Military Arms Channel) and Eric (IraqVeteran8888):

One quibble, he's not telling other people not to send money, he's just stopping telling them TO send money.

Thanks very much for posting that. When I clicked on it and saw it was going to be almost half an hour I thought "no way am I gonna watch this whole thing", but I was glued.

It's time to clean house, the NRA is not to big to fail.

It was really telling when the Republicans controlled the presidency, house and senate and we got nothing accomplished for the 2A. The NRA in it's current leadership don't seem to want wins but would rather enjoy and invite threats to the 2A to boost contributions to their power and money hungry corrupted leadership. I once thought they were the lessor of two evils and that we must support them but, I've come to the conclusion the NRA needs to hit rock bottom and clean house before they ever get a dime from me again.

Tim and Eric's thoughts on the matter that @jski posted is spot on.

I've been an NRA advocate, but given especially the last 5 years it is evident there is a significant amount of corruption.

It occurs to me that, if you were going to pick a population to basically scam and then expect them to passively take it because "what else are they gonna do?" you'd be hard pressed to find a worse population to target than American gun owners. As a group, they may fall for all kinds of stuff, but putting up with being brazenly put upon and having their real and perceived interests totally disregarded?

I mean, NRA rent-seekers, have you met your members?

Agreed

As usual Hickok just rambles along and takes twice as long to say nothing and speak out of both sides of his mouth. Ye Haw. Chuckle,:barf:

All he cares about is promoting his channel and getting all his sponsor to provide him with stuff. He doen't need the NRA but the NRA is what enabled him and others to be able to shoot for so long. Just a fair weather friend of the NRA

NRA screws up and folks are like rats jumping the ship.

They can not seem to remember all that the NRA has done for owners up until this year.

You are being kind. He (they) spent over 10 minutes wasting time for something that could have been covered in 30 seconds. You didn't know any more after 10 minutes then you did after 2 and he beat around the bush a lot for the first 2.
