John Ross not delivering paid for JR500

He is probably dealing with MO ag; not. I guarantee if he is it came from not delivering firearms and could be solved by just sending them, no other demands. How would i know; read between the lines.

I have read this entire thread, and the locked one on CB, and I have to say you are a way more patient man than I. By this time I would be going scorched earth policy on him. I would be doing whatever it took, hiring whoever it would take to make him regret the day he even tough about screwing me over on a simple deal like this. Good luck to you and screw John Ross forever.

What's the appeal of a JR500? I, like others, have never heard of this guy. Does it do something special that the .500 S&W X-frame doesn't? Is it better than a Magnum Research .500 Linebaugh?

If interested just go over there and view it as it would take up too much space here. Note they did edit any posts i was able to make, delete information from posts, moderator closed thread because he didnt want it to continue to post evidence against their hero. And try to discredit me with no proof.

I read it before I made my 1st comments days ago.

I'd screen shot it for record before it's gone completely

ETA: Posts ate normally mark as being edited. I don't think his post was edited which could be pretty helpful later.

It is double action which i believe a 500 linebaugh is not. But not sure. 500 sw ammo is easier to get, reloading options are limitless from mild to oh **** that hurts. Jr 500 is a perf ormance center custom 5 inch without compensator. It also has a different barrel twist 1/10 vs 1/18 which stabilizes heavier bullets.
After having the 500 in a 4 inch version i saw no benefit of the compensator except noise and blow back.
Other too but there are articles on it. Seemed like best option for hunting in griz country. Bear spray? Which way does wind blow in mountains? Every direction at all times. Wonder around mountains in mt anywhere in vicinity of yellowstone park or many other places and wonder where all that grizzlie **** came from? Big, angry, not afraid of people because they havent been hunted in 50 years bears.

Yes these jr 500s are built in box since late 2007 early 2008.
I started this thread and will continue to post until it is resolved. I would have benefitted from this information before going down this road. I am sure there are others who want to get one of these. Yes i should have been warned from posts on other forums going back to 2011. Cb 2011 27 pages, wonder why they didn’t edit responses and close that one early?

I no longer use the internet to buy but being honest I do sell on GB. I never ship until I cash the money order (no longer accept any other form of payment).
Same reason I no longer possess a debit card and am in the process of no longer dealing with internet insurance companies, etc.
I'm going back to buying locally from brick and mortar stores even if I pay a bit more.
Sorry for your troubles OP.

I think at this point I’ve formed an opinion of Mr. Ross as a businessman. Whether or not he is condescending or just feeling a little cornered and trying to make light of the situation is debatable; I’m trying to reserve judgement on that one. My opinion is that even now he is intentionally silent, perhaps knowing that his clients are disappointed with little he can do to remedy things. Were it me I’d give him a week without contact to let all heads cool and check with my FFL.

IMHO, John Ross should've handled this better. If he has been online but ignoring messages and voicemails, then there is no excuse for this behavior. A timely reply to any of them would've sufficed but he chose to ignore them. His response on CB would've severely pissed me off. As would the rest of the responders who came to his defense. You just don't leave a paying customer who's sent you $1500 hanging in the breeze and then come back with an arrogant response. If it were me, I'd want my money back and he could shove the gun where the sun doesn't shine.

That said, there's no reason for a 1-10" twist in a .500S&W.

I read it also and the one guy who had nothing to do with it sure wrote several long "essays" with his opinion on everything. What a jerk.

Jeez, how hard is it to say, "Gosh, I'm terribly sorry. I've had a major business interruption due to flooding. I've had only intermittent and limited internet access and no voicemail access, and I haven't had the time to go through all my various emails, and I simply missed this issue. I understand the concern, and will reach out privately. Rest assured, the OP will either have the gun or a refund of his money (his choice), and on terms that leave him happy. Because that's what is important to me and my business - happy customers. For everyone who offered kind words in my defense, you have my thanks."

Or something like that. I know the "grumpy gunsmith" is kind of a well-worn trope, but, come on, swallow a little pride and apologize.

It’s so you can shoot those highly effective 700 grain bullets! Wait, did I say effective? I meant ineffective. :)
Of the 2 500s I have had, I have never shot a bullet heavier than 500 gr. I don't see that changing if/when I do receive this gun. I like the 440 gr hardcast. Sure it would do the trick if the shooter does his.
I did see some article that said the 1/10 twist increases the torque as bullet weight goes up more than 1/18. So not only does the barrel rise toward you it twists.

Some folks were pushing those monstrosities a number of years ago. When I was writing my first book I tested them in wet newsprint for penetration (not the best medium) and they didn't fare very well -- granted, with a standard twist rate, but it's just not necessary to go that heavy. The fast twist rate should increase the torque that is felt. It'll actually twist in your hand. Eager to hear your impressions when you shoot yours. Let's hope you get it sometime soon.

But his last line after explaining the whole flood thing was:

"Please tell anyone you know that's pissed at me that they'll have to take a number and get in line..."

Rather than Sorry due to the flooding I am behind and will deliver as soon as blah blah bla.

Or when I feel like it.

Update on the Other Scam

"I have fielded several private messages from fellow victims regarding Pistol Dynamics—people in a similar situation asking how to get involved. We’re up to 13 people (and counting) since the thread started. Very sad. I’m sure there are hundreds of victims. The worst is a man in Texas who is out 18k on two builds."
