I recently purchased a Cimarron 1911 from Bud's. I inspected it before doing the transfer and everything looked good. The barrel was a bit dirty, but I assumed it was from the two test shots it got before leaving the Armscor factory.
When I got it home, I stripped it down and gave it a good cleaning. A lot of crud came out of the bore. But the bore still looks dirty right in front of the chamber, like it's frosted from firing corrosive ammo.
I called Cimarron and they told me to get in touch with Armscor in Nevada. I sent the Armscor folks an email and they got right back to me asking for pics. I sent the three pictures below, which I thought illustrated the issue, but they asked for more pics from a different angle that show the frosted bore.
I've read that sometimes these pistols arrive with a bit of parkerizing in the bore, which really doesn't affect accuracy. The general consensus seemed to be "just go shoot it and don't worry."
Other than this issue, it's a very nice piece for the money -- the fit of most parts is better than my circa 1996 Springfield Armory Mil-Spec. And I like the Cimarron roll marks.
I'd really rather not deal with sending it in, but I don't want to take a hit if I ever decide to sell it.
Should I keep pursuing it with Armscor or am I being too picky?
Thanks for any advice.
