Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

A first: buying 124 grain 9mm ammo instead of the cheapest brands of mostly brass-cased 115 grain.

A true, local gunsmith told me that having a very limited number of extraction problems in my new Star BM handgun must be caused by ammo. The several 'partial' FTExtracts were with every 50-100 rds. I learned after going crazy with three days of roll pin banging/punching, that these are not caused by good extractors.

Avoiding cheap "tng', 115 grain ammo brought this cool 'range' gun from 90-95, to 98% reliability. And this is Aguila, Mexican ammo. A strong recoil spring might bring it close to 100% function.

Bought a "SFS" system, a Garthwaite trigger and a new set of grips for my "new" c-series Browning Hi-Power.

While at the Cabela's in KCK I saw they had 2 bricks of Remington 71/2 Bench rest primers on the shelf. these have been "unobtanium" lately so went ahead and bought them.
I picked up some CFE223 and a bucket of Federal 22's as well.

Hi...
Bought a couple boxes of Frontier .223 to sight in and function test my new AR15. Picked up a box each of .357 158gr Hornady HP/XTPs and .45 250gr Hornady HP/XTPs.
Also, a Lyman primer pockets swaging tool for my son to remove military crimp from some .308 brass he acquired.

My son bought a 9mm shell plate for our small primer set up Hornady LnL progressive press. Also some light for caliber .270 bullets for his Rem 700 bolt action. He bought a few other odds and ends as well but I forget what all there was.

I purchased a Hatfield .45 flintlock rifle from a friend and ordered some new 40-65 brass and a neck expander for my Browning BPCR from TOW.

Hi...
After doing a function test and sighting in my AR15, my son and I went to a gun show in York, Pa.
Since my AR shot fairly well at 100yds with 55gr mil spec rounds, we decided to test it with some match grade ammunition.

So...I picked up some 69gr match grade Federal ammunition at the gun show.
We will see how my rifle likes it on our next range trip.

375supermag...as you may already know, if the 69gr bullets group better it is probably because your AR has 1:7 twist rate, if they don't it likely has a 1:8 or more likely a 1:9 twist. Other factors not withstanding, faster twist stabilize heavier bullets better and slower twist stabilize lighter bullets better. I'm no ballistic expert by any means, but that is what I ran into on my AR.

Had a very busy weekend.

Picked up:
Dan Wesson Pointman in 38 Super
9mm Shell Plate for my press
Dillon 550 quick change kit with all the parts I need for loading a new cartridge.

Ordered:
CZ Shadow 2

38 Super dies
1000 bullets to load 38 Sup
1000 cases from Starline
4 lbs of v-N105 powder

Ordered a couple of Glock mags, a few 1911 22lr magazines and cleaning brushes from Brownells last week.

Upon order confirmation, I was initially given Saturday, yesterday, to receive the package. It did not arrived, when I followed up the tracking, it says Order processed: Shipment information received by UPS Mail Innovations / Ready for UPS. Chatted with Brownells and gave me a different tracking number which says (postal service this time) USPS currently awaiting package. Hopefully, package was not lost since it was already picked up according to Brownells.

Will have to wait for the 7th business day to contact them again. Which is Tuesday. Bummer.

Hi...
My AR15 has a 1:8 twist.
We are going to try several different bullet weights until we find the weight this rifle likes
Then we will choose a bullet for reloading and work up loads.

I bought a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot sight a few days ago for my AR build.

Yesterday I ordered an Ergo Delta Grip to try out on one of my J frame revolvers.

IMG_6939.JPG They dropped this off on the front porch today along with a carbide cutter head for my case trimmer. About 80 bucks for 50 cases; that's about $1.60 each. But I already knew the price of shooting a Weatherby. I've had this 257 since March 2018; a buddy previously owned it and I reloaded for it for over a year before he decided to sell it. The package deal price was right and I already knew the gun was a solid shooter and what loads it liked ! Couldn't say no. Always wanted a Weatherby and IMHO the 257 Weatherby rates as a classic in the cartridge world.

Gotta admire a man who buys the bayonet for the rifle he doesn't have yet.
..... Smart man.... Unlike me; who, last year bought a bayonet for the 1908 Brazilian Mauser that I got just over 25 years ago........ Was telling the gun show vendor I got it from how much I regretted not buying the bayonet back when I bought the rifle it goes on. Would have been much more economical.
