And could still do. I think the big names should put out 1911 actions in polymer frame, double stack pistols. Best of both worlds.

I'll expand my budget for a couple of things.

Ruger PCC in .45 ACP and/or 10mm
Ruger Wrangler

Seriously, I am so happy with my new .45 ACP 1911, I can’t imagine wanting a 10 mm. But sure, YMMV.

For SD I really like the Federal LE45T1 +P hollow points. 460 ft lb muzzle energy. Feed and shoot great. And very reasonably priced in 50 round boxes. How often do you see that in SD ammo? I don’t think 10 mm would do a whole lot more for me. Some, but not a whole lot.

We don’t want to get too far off topic of course, but 10mm can be loaded to 700 ftlbs of energy with 180 gr bullets. There is a real difference. But energy is non-descriptive of lot of stuff that’s critical like bullet construction and weight.

But that’s only useful to you if it’s useful to you. That 45 load is impressive and may be all the thump anyone needs.

But since we’re talking 9mm, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
