Repair of Savage Axis II Magazine's Plastic Catch

From what I've been told the afore mentioned firearm in 30-06 is an extremely accurate piece, however the weakness is in the plastic catch attached to the metal based magazine, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a remedy to correct this , as I'm in the market for a 30-06 here soon, and I've done quite a bit of research on this type of firearm?

As an Axis owner I have no idea how to repair the part you are asking about. I will say this though, although my Axis is very accurate with my handloads I would buy a different rifle. There are enough negatives about the Axis ( to me, anyway) that the one I have is the only one I'll ever have. On the other hand it has a lot of fans. I'm just not one of them.

I planned on hand loading there doubleh, thanks for the tip, I'm starting to steer in the direction of the Remington in the bargain basket rifle that they offer.
