The pro gun control group in my family have had several arguments. Here are the main misrepresentations of law, common sense, and history I have heard.

1.) The guns then weren't nearly as powerful as today. Today you can load hundreds of rounds into a clip and shoot a high caliber rifle that you don't even need to aim.

2.) This land was stolen by oppressors with guns. Only bad people have guns.

3.) Gun owners don't stand a chance today against any government like they did back then when everyone had single shot rifles

4.) We have way bigger cities today with more people and more crime. Back then everyone were neighbors.

5.) 2nd amendment was written to allow the military to have arms

6) I'm not talking about the 2nd amendment, I'm talking about common sense!

7.) Things were WAY different back then.

Shallow arguments with no merit and all based on feelings instead of the common sense they proclaim.

Just a reminder, the Vietnam War was suppose to be a push over matter done and done within a matter of months, against illiterate populous that didn't have much more then sticks and stones. Yet, the U.S. was over there for roughly 19 years. Had napalm, jets, helicopters, modern military machinery, etc and yet, left after all that. Just earks me to hear how people have forgotten history so soon. Maybe I am off course in my rant, but, no matter how much firepower you throw at anyone now a days, chances are you can wear them down over time. Things are the same today as whey were yesterday, just more hate in the mix. Done.

The problem wasn’t the armaments we had. Or our warriors ability and will to fight. Or even the Vietnamese will to fight (although they were fighters worthy of any opponent). No, the problem with the Vietnam “conflict” was the politicians. It was the worst run military campaign I’ve ever seen. Take a hill that costs 10-1,000 men and two days later abandoned it to take another meaningless hill with no name only to give it back. And we haven’t decisively won a a conflict since. Our conflicts would be over a lot sooner and with much less blood shed and treasure lost on both sides if politicians didn’t bind the hands of the men and women actually out there risking their lives. And if the media didn’t play along and portray our warriors and hero’s as monsters.

The Afghans did a nice job on Russia too, same for Chechnya.

Hand held missiles have somewhat leveled the battlefield.

Vietnam was concocted simply to stuff money into the pockets of the military industrial complex

It was about wasting as many assets as quickly as possible so that the taxpayers would pony up for replacements

So what if we killed a bunch of backward villagers, and lose some American hick kids in the process. At least I’m getting rich

Rally ‘round the flag

I love all the lefty media freak-out over 45's plans to display our weaponry at the National Mall tomorrow! Such displays of military equipment were commonplace at local Independence and Memorial Day celebrations until the 70s.....of course the tanks were lighter then and perhaps didnt tear up the pavement as badly.

How dare we take pride in the strength of American military men, women, and their gear that keep those Leftist elites safe and comfy in their beds?

Bring on the tanks, and have them waving a big Stars and Stripes from the hatch!

But we aren’t supposed to be proud of our country or it’s service men and women. Because we kill and oppress people. Doesn’t matter what those people have done to our people or allies. Maybe we can put some people to work repairing the roads torn up by our tanks with those “shovel ready jobs” we were supposed to have the last 10 years.

I want to see how the parade tomorrow is spun in the media.

Remember rep swallowell and his position that the government would just resort to nuking the population should it ever resist a tyrannical government takeover. He is one dumb sumditch. No brains. It's crazy, they want us to have licenses to drive, carry a gun, do electrical, plumbing, etc... these schmucks should have to take some kind of test to serve in public office....
