I'm looking to carry extra ammo on my Rem 870 whats out there thats good for H/D also looking
to add a light

I just use an Allen ammo sleeve. I heat a nail and melt a hole for my sling stud. This keeps everything oriented. I have also been known to put a few stitches in the elastic to get everything nice and snug. Cheap and easily removed if you decide to go to the sporting Clays range or whatever.
Also....beware of some of the brands of more permanent ammo carriers....some require alteration of the fore end.
I have a light for my hd 870, but I dont like it, so I wont recommend it. 20170520_105805.jpg

What type of forearm on your 870? You might want to change it out. A Surefire forearm is my top choice but they're pricey. A tri-rail forearm and an Insight WML light is a good choice.
As for ammo I like a regular side saddle or Esstac shotgun card and the above mentioned Allen shell carrier together. No such thing as too much ammo.

Is that wing ding on the end of the magtube the light you don't like? Or is it out on the barrel?

Other than that and the sling, the one in my closet looks nearly identical to yours.

I used the SpeedFeed III stock on my Tactical Magnum:

Doesn't change the balance, and it's great for water swatting diver ducks. Handy place to keep alabi shells when I shot Trap with it, too.

I use a side saddle that is screwed into the receiver on the left side - it helps balance things a lot better and doesn't slide around like a sleeve

I always used an elastic sleeve type shell holder on the street for every 870 that I carried. Relatively cheap, quick to slip over the butt of the weapon (or remove) it holds five rounds on the butt away from your face where it doesn't compromise the natural quick pointing characteristics of a basic riot configured shotgun (18-20" barrel, simple bead sight, four round tube - no mag extension...). That's exactly what I had in my hands on any hot call - all those years ago. I'm long retired, but a few years ago I finally got a new 870 - and set it up exactly as already described. The only other accessory I ever found useful was a sling so that I could sling the weapon if I needed to "hands on" - either climbing up or over an obstacle or going hand to hand if necessary...

I note that many makers offer lots of bells and whistles for defensive shotguns these days and most seem much more about marketing than any real utility - my opinion only...

I agree with the elastic sleeve. Been using one for years small game hunting on a choate survivor stock. Being worn almost 10 years. It has never stretched out and slide around. And i keep wet naps underneath for cleaning your hands after field dressing grouse/greys. Not the best pic. But all i have on the phone

I would go with a Mesa 6 shell polymer. Light, strong and has a window for the serial number. Also lifetime warranty.

The plate that goes on the left side of the receiver is the best way to go for ammo. A surefire forend light is the best light, but they cost more than the gun. Otherwise, a railed forend and a light with a rail grabber.

I'm a fan of the "shotshell cards" like the Esstac referred to above. Easy to install, remove and replenish. The Esstac cards also have some grippy material on the inside to keep shells from working loose while you're shooting.
