Mainly trying to keep up with what I have and where. How do y'all store the swabs, and brushes you use for cleaning the inside of a gun barrel? I did just put them in the bottom of a tool box I use for my cleaning stuff, but then I loose track of what I have and what gauge or caliber it goes to. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Richard.

I'm worse than you. I have brass rods, aluminum, world's of end pieces. I've bought kits that are set up for decent separation...they all get mixed. I stopped caring. Rods and patches go on the bottom drawer, brushes/accessories go in the top.

I put my brushes and such in a "pocket" tackle box. The ones that have 5 or 6 trays on each side. They cost about $5.

You have to engrave the caliber size as the cleaning solvent dissolves the magic marker.

I buy decent but inexpensive plastic tool boxes then organize the boxes caliber specific. I tote my revolvers in the toolbox.
They (farm stores, maybe Amazon) sell boxes that are stackable, and snap together.....some even have wheels on the bottom component.
I have boxes for each muzzleloader too.

Tackle box. 223 stuff in one slot, 44 in another, etc. patches in bags in bottom.

Spares get stored in the wall. Ones currently in use get stored in a Plano Stowaway box. The slot dividers are removable. So it can all be adjusted to fit what you’re storing.

I use an old tackle box to keep most of my "gun stuff" in. Have a separate shoebox size plastic container for screwdrivers, cleaning rods, and other assorted tools.

I use those orange plastic pill bottles, I pull the prescription labels off and relabel them with the appropriate caliber for whatever brushes, jags, etc and store them all separately that way. So far I've not found any solvent up to and including acetone that touches that plastic.

+ 1 on Plano dual sides fishing tackle cases or plastic tool boxes. A lot of the tackle cases have adjustable "cubby holes" so that you don't necessarily have to label each individual brush but instead the slot or the row of slots for calibers.

Thanks y'all. Great ideas. I never even thought about using pill bottles, I've just been peeling the labels and tossing them.
They blew my mind when my wife showed me she used them to take along acetone (nail polish remover) on overnights, said the tops are less likely to leak than the cap on a small commercial bottle of nail polish remover. Now why a woman would need to take along nail polish remover on a weekend trip is kinda beyond me and I think a bit beyond the focus of this forum.

The medication bottles are great because they come in a variety of sizes and colors. Although I get the ones with screw tops not child safe types. I use them to store drill bits, taps, screws, ball bearings... Same with 35mm film canisters.

Many years ago a very smart secretary told me that it’s better to have a few fat files than a whole bunch of thin files. You may have to riffle through a fat file for a few seconds to find what you need, but it is still faster than trying to remember the exact location of one specific document. The same principle works for gun stuff.

Plastic storage boxes, about the size of a shoe box, are a buck at the Dollar Store. Everything for one caliber goes into the same box. You can paw through the stuff and find what you are looking for very quickly.

My father in law was in the military for 35 years and 25 of that as a Warrant Officer in quartermaster/supply. When he passed some 26 years ago my brother in law and I split about 60 ammo cans in various calibers. I have everything from .17 HMR to .454 Casull labeled using masking tape and a magic marker on twenty of them. The others hold various cleaning brushes, patches, Hoppes, lubricants, red dot and scope batteries, springs, spare barrels, magazines, lights and other knick knacks I've accumulated in the last fifty years of recreational shooting.

22LR from CCI comes in the best storage boxes, I use the plastic sliding lid boxes that CCI ammo comes in. I am really disappointed CCI went to 50 round boxes, but glad I saved all my 100 round boxes.
