I have a CZ 457 Varmint MTR mount with a Weaver Classic V 4-16X with fine line crosshair and target dot reticle.
I've been shooting Eley SV which shot okay, then I tried GECO Match .22lr.
The target on the left was 5 fouling shots from a clean and cold barrel. The right hand target was 5 shots after fouling. Both were shot at 50 yards.

Good group. At 50 yards it pretty easily should be one hole with it’s preferred ammo

While that magnification scope may seem excessive to most .22 shooters, you can only shoot as good as you can see

IMO, you need to be able to see which part of the previous bullet hole you want to hit

Nice CZ, I like the look and how that rifle shoots. Id be happy with those groups, but try other ammo.
I get on hole groups with my 455 using wolf xtra match

One day I will join rim fire challenge....too busy. You really don't need to be in any rimfire challenge to shoot one hole groups....just sayin

Ifit - NICE GROUP. CZ's will shoot, I have 2
Just trying to quantify it though.
How was it shot?
Front bag, front and rear bag, lead sled, bipod, slinged and prone, offhand:what:,

The groups posted was shot, benched...using bipod and a rear bag. Scope was set at 6 or 7 power, I also have a bubble level, trying to get the outmost possible accuracy outa the 455, it's just something I really enjoy

just want to ask ? What all have you done to your rifle? I bought a Cz 455 American a few weeks ago and am just blown away and surprised how nice these little .22 bolt guns are. I bought a milled trigger guard and Timmey trigger. I have some DIP magazine based coming. I am going to polish the bolt at some point. And that is all I intend to do. I am not looking for a one hole target rifle. Just a very nice, accurate, well made .22 bolt action .22. I think I found it without breaking the bank. What is your experience and opinions on CZ bolt action rimfires? Sounds like you have experience with them.

This is my first CZ I've owned. The only thing I did, after about 500 rounds, was adjust the factory trigger down to about 1.5 lbs.

Own 2 452's, have shot 455's in the past and just shot two 457's.
IMHO for what you've done to the 455 I would have waited for a 457 American. No need to replace the bottom metal, trigger is a 3 screw adjustable - pre travel, sear engagement, over travel, bolt throw is 60° preventing scope interference.
That being said, you've got a CZ, set up like you like, get out and shoot it.
You WILL enjoy it.

Thank you for your reply. I am new to the CZ bolt action rimfires. I own, collect, hunt with and shoot many firearms and have all my life and I would be considered an old man now. I own enough firearms, that I order the oil I use by the gallon. I have always wanted a good .22 bolt action. I have many .22 similar-auto pistols, revolvers, .22 simi-auto rifles, lever action, s pump a Winchester model 61, that my Grandfather gave me for my tenth birthday. I bought one of the new Browning T-bolts a few years back but I, for some reason, I can’t explain, consider it to be a true bolt action. Also I bought one of the Weatherby Mark XXII’s years back, I bought it in .17 hmr and looking back, I wish I would have bought it in .22 long rifle. It’s a very fine firearm. I bought this CZ on closeout, not expecting much more than a Savage or Marlin. When I picked it up and really looked it over, I was very surprised, it equals some of and exceeds some of the very high dollar bolt action.22’ I have looked at. The wood on it had a lot of grain and dome figure. It is very well made and it just feels like you are holding quality, I have looked some of the other bolt action .22’s in this price range over and the CZ is way ahead of them in quality. The receiver on the CZ is double the thickness of the others. It shoots very accurate. I just see them as a much better firearm than what the price suggest it would be. I am not wanting a one hole target gun, just one that will be a minute of squirrel or crow accuracy. I have found it in this little CZ , have a very fine .22 bolt action and still have less in it, than I could have got one of the others for. Getting something built this well, in this day and age, speaks well of CZ.

Forget to mention, installed a Rifle Basix Trigger

Good shooting, Grimmy. I'm glad that you were able to get Geco to shoot like that because five shot, one-holers are not typical with that ammo.

IMHO, typical Geco quality (even match) is just ok with ES's anywhere from the 60's at best to the 100's at worst per 50 cartridges. My typical groups are more like your cold bore target - two or three together with two or three enlarging the group.

It reminds me when I once got five cartridges of Federal Auto Match to one hole. I couldn't believe it, knowing the quality (or lack therof). I must have picked the five most consistent cartridges out of 325 in that box. That stuff is one of a few 22LR ammos that give the buyer a mix of both supersonic and subsonic ammo in the same box. If only we knew which were which! Haha.
