I am glad you came to your senses, LOL. Tikka fan here. CZ and Thompson Center are sweet though.

I would echo the CZ recommenders here as well. I don't have one in 5.56/.233 but in a different caliber, and it is heirloom quality with the looks and performance to back it up, at a very fair price. It has an adjustable trigger and has a regular pull, and a lighter target pull as well.

Several years ago Ruger offered their Hawkeye African rifle in 223, presumably as a trainer for similar rifles of bigger caliber. It came with express sights. I found one and bought it, played with it a lot. Great fun. I didn't touch the gun, left the sights as they came from the factory and practiced snap shooting. No plans to head for Africa, but sure do enjoy the gun. Reminds me that I've not shot it in a while, think I'll take it with me when I go to the range tomorrow.

I checked the Ruger website and they still offer the Hawkeye African, but not in 223. I imagine there are used ones out there.

Just put the scope on the tikka. Viper HST Vortex 4-16x44. Thanks everybody for the input and suggestions I’m extremely happy with this little guy. Pic doesn’t do it justice but it’s something.

I recently went into a couple of local gun stores and asked about the availability of the Tikka T3x Tac A1 in 223. They are not inexpensive and, it seems, they aren't readily available either. I've seen some articles online about them being introduced at the 2018 Shot Show, but when the shops checked with their distributors, nobody had one. I think that'd be a lot of fun to play with. Does anyone here have one?

I don't believe the RPR is made in 223. Not sure why not, apparently not sufficient demand. The Tikka in other calibers is a bit more money than a RPR comparably chambered. Seems to me that Ruger could sell a 223 RPR, but I assume they know where the demand is better than I do. They could probably sell one to me if they made them, and I still couldn't find a Tikka.

I called my local store as well after reading your post HardCase. My local shop cannot get there hands on the Tikka Tac A1, either. Not sure why to be honest unless there are some importing issues.

A few years ago I wanted a certain trim level of Tikka in 6.5x55, and to make a long story short, the importer for the US (Beretta) doesn't offer to import everything that Tikka makes -- that may be the issue with this rifle as well.
