Ok guys for me the 6.5’s are where it’s at and since I have an old 06 in need of some work I thought this is perfect for it

So question does anyone have one?

Pros
I already load for 6.5G,6.5CM,6.5x55 Swede so I have lots of bullets
Brass can be formed easily enough
It’s a 6.5 so it’s magical jk
I want it
Already have the action

Cons
Not a commercial success
Need to handload (I do)
Not a ton of load data

Anybody got anything else to say about it?

I've played around with one. I'm afraid its barrel was shot out by the time I got my hands on it... I may eventually rebarrel it.

This & a "Quarter bore Creedmoor" are 2 concepts I wish would take off.

A 30-06 (or 30-03 a la 270 win) case given the Creedmoor shoulder treatment, a 130-160 gr .264 bullet with a 1:8 barrel twist would make for a perfect North American all rounder.

i am not a big 6.5 fan, but the 6.5-06 is a great round. i do like the 6.5 grendel and the swede. what action you got. ever consider the 6.5x57 mauser. you can find ppu ammo for $12 a box.

Yes we have a 6.5/06 and love it. We are shooting 140 gr Nosler Accubonds out of it at about 2880 FPS the rifle has an 8 to 1 twist. It’s stupid accurate, low recoil and easy to shoot. It’s built on a stainless classic M-70 action. Kills deer and antelope like the hammer of Thor.

I had the rifle built for my youngest daughter. She’s killed multiple antelope and deer with it so far. We haven’t been able to put her on an elk with that rifle yet. I highly recommend the 6.5/06 if you are a hand loader.
