Type 99 7.7 Sporter - Ideas?

The .30-06 conversion isn't gonna happen. The chambers in these guns have too much slack in the head side so bulged or split cases, não obrigado! Plus, without setting the barrel back, it's just not a proper conversion. I have little interest in non-military bolt action rifles, but thanks for suggesting just to buy a commercial rifle guys. I'd like a 1903 or P17, but with prices like they are, not ever gonna bother unless I find one at a cheap estate sale or something.

The guy told me he's taking it to a show this weekend and I have no interest in going to the shows around here, so I'm passing on it.

I have fired 8x57 cases(same head size as the 3006) formed into 7.7 ,s, all that's needed to resize the 8x57 case in a full lenth 7.7 sizeing die. it ,s very easy to do. and fired them four times with out any splits cases, true they do bulge to the 7.7 rear chamber but I only neck size after the first fireing and junked them after four fireings. no one says you have to use a 7.7 conferred to 3006, only that it has and can be done safely.

I read about 7.7’s being larger at the base than 30-06 and bulging brass when converted to 30-06, so I was surprised to find that when I bought 100 rounds of new PPU 7.7x58 brass for mine that the brass measures .473 at the base, same as 30-06 brass. No doubt they do this as a manufacturing convenience. Either way I have not seen any abnormal bulging when fired in my rifle.

my norma 7.7 jap is .469

the issue that I've found is that almost all the 06 brass I measure was something like .465+/-
I recorded them in a thread somswhere.
