Looking for opinions from anyone who has personal experience with both. I'm not really a Glock guy, and nothing they currently have out interest me other than the G48. Held one at my LGS, and I liked it. I haven't had the chance to handle the P365XL yet.

I normally EDC single stacks, Jframes, or a dbl stack subcompacts. With my frame, everything usually prints. Has anyone who had problems concealing the G19 find that the G48 is easier to conceal?

I can't answer your question directly, but can provide some insight. I've been debating between the Sig 365 and G43 for a while. Last week I walked into a local gun shop with cash in hand to compare them. They were out of stock on Sigs and all of the Glocks had a "ask for price" sticker instead of a regular price tag. So I asked, and was told $400 OTD for any Glock that day only. I looked at the G48 and didn't feel that it offered me anything I couldn't do with my G19. Looked at the G43X too, but left with a standard G43. I'm happy with it and getting it at that price I have no regrets. At that price I'd have bought it over Sig even if they'd had one in stock.

I do wish, and don't understand why, Glock didn't design the G48 and G43X magazines to also work with the G43. Having the option of using shorter 6 round mags for carry and 10 round mags when needed would make for a good combo. I can use G17 mags in my G19 or a G26. Why not offer the same option with the single stacks.

I'm waiting another 6 months to a year to see if Sig has worked the bugs out of the P365 design. I have a couple friends with then and overall I like the pistol but at this point I don't trust it.

What has me excited about my G48 is the fact that they did change the magazines from the G43. They are a stack and a half, similar to the Sig P365’s. There is a company (Shield Arms) that is working on a flush fit 15 round mag that works with the G43x/G48. They have it working per their YouTube video showing it, and are working on getting manufacturing ramped up from what I hear. The magazines will forgo the plastic wrap typical of Glock mags for just steel, thus gaining some much needed width in the magazine to allow for the 15 rounds.

Has the XL even the LGS shelves yet?
Not sure

My guess would be they knew that if they released a 43 with a 4" slide first, there wouldn't be any need to puchase a 48. By releasing the 48 first, those who already own one will go out and spend another $400-$450 on the short grip version... That is what I'd really prefer though. A long slide G43 for concealment with 10 rounders for back-up..

I too am in the wait and see mode on this.

Currently, my smallest carry guns are a Sig P290 (7+1 and 8+1) several S&W Shields, and a Glock 26.

I’m not really sure what I want at this time. Was looking hard at the Glock 43X but want a smaller gun. As mentioned, I think Glock screwed up not making the original G43 a bit thicker like the 43X so they could share mags.

The P365 seems to be the right size, but debating simply going with a Ruger LCP or something .380.

So, I’ll watch this thread unfold as the guns see more time and availability. Good discussion and I appreciate everyone’s inputs.

This magazine, if it proves reliable, will really make the 43X and 48 a contender to replace G26/19’s IMO. At least for some folks...
