Today I brought home my first CZ firearm. It’s a Shadow 2.

It has a nice crisp trigger, nice adjustable sights, came with three magazines, and its weight aught to make for very pleasant shooting.

I can’t wait to put some rounds through it tomorrow.

I will say, the small slide serrations are going to take s little getting used to. I’m used to shooting Sigs and HKs.

Its kinda like if you took a bone stock Mitsubishi Eclipse and stuck ground effects, NACA ducts, and and a wing on it.....but hey if thats your thing, more power to ya. I think a plain jane CZ75 is more my speed, thats all.

It is certainly an attention getter, and Im sure it shoots nicely. CZ dont make junk.
Yeah, I get that. I’ve actually contemplated picking up a standard 75b several times, but they never quite fit in my hand right. This altered frame fits me better, though I may put thicker grips on it.

I guess I kind of see it as if I’m going to buy a a new Chevy Camaro, do I want an automatic with a more fuel efficient engine, or do I want the SS. I want the SS.

Considering competition also, so it a good fit for me.

Except this was built as a full on competition gun. So the analogy kinda misses its mark. More a kin to the Ferrari F40, which was a race car with license plates.

The only reason this pistol exists is to go head to head with the Tanfo's in IPSC and USPSA.

and congrats OP.

Very Nice!

I don't own any of the higher end factory guns, have only handled ones that I don't actually own, but IMO/IME, the higher up you go in the CZ line, the better the guns are for shooting enjoyment and performance, generally speaking. And that's starting with awesome base models like the 75 B. They aren't just putting stuff on the higher end guns for marketing BS or just to make them different.

With the low production volume of these higher-end guns I do believe you pay a pretty penny for some of the differences/upgrades/refinements, and I do know from experience that aftermarket parts in the base model guns can also make the base model much more enjoyable and better performing. But starting with a gun like the Shadow would be great, IMO. I doubt that many shooters who appreciate a fine handgun would regret having spent the extra $.

Keep in mind after you shoot it some, Cajun Gun Works parts can still improve it and tailor it to your liking. :)

I hate to sound like a groupie so soon, but I just put 400 rounds through this gun and all I can say is wow, I really dig it.

It has a little creep before trigger break, but I don’t mind it at all. When it does break it’s very clean. Recoil is pretty well mitigated by the weight, which makes it a fast shooting gun. The ergos really suit me well, and hitting a steel target at 35 yards wasn’t hard. Yeah, I had to calm down and pay attention, but my shooting was pretty quick at 20 yards. No malfunctions. I kept worrying I was going to short stroke it, but reset is pretty decent.

It may go to Cajun gun works, but I’d like to put a few thousand more rounds through it before deciding. It was pretty fun, and it’s not even broken in yet.

I think I have a new favorite 9mm after one session.

It’s kind of sobering when you realize the gun you are shooting has completely lived up to your expectations and that it’s capable of a lot more than what you are doing with it.

Time for a shot clock I guess.

The CGW race hammer kit will eliminate 95% of the characteristic CZ camming back of the hammer, which I assume is what you are describing as creep.

CZs with CGW parts. You'll eventually get there. ;)

I just shot a CZ for the first time about two weeks ago; a target speciality model (SP-01 Target II). An all steel 9mm on the weighty side but, I like heavy handguns. Pointing, griping feel, shooting, accuracy, recoil, etc were all superb. A very fun and pleasant handgun to shoot, accuracy was right on par with my Baer and Wilson, teardown for cleaning was a breeze. Impressive, very impressive.

Hate to tell ya it's all downhill from this point.
The real problem comes in your future purchases. It becomes a lot harder to go back to run of the mill stuff. :)
Yeah I’ve been noticing that trend. Already contemplating another trade.
