My shortest barrel in 45 acp is 4.25" I load 200gr for the pistols with Bullseye and 185-200gr for the carbine with Accurate #5 or VV n-340.
If I loaded for all with one powder I would use W-231.

I have had good results with 230 plated and both 4.7 and 5grs of HP38 (W231)
4.7 is softer, 5.0 maybe shot a hair better but really to close to call. (with me shooting standing unsupported)

Make sure you check the brass you have to see if it is LP or SP primers.
.45 comes in both flavors, the old standard was LP but some new Federal, Blazer and ??? are SP.
Both shoot fine, SP is nice in a way because you only need 1 size pistol primer and you don't have to change things if priming on press.
Most of my brass is LP so I just buy LP primers.
Just a rough number but the LP loads are maybe 10-15fps faster than the SP ones for the same powder charge.

Hope you have fun with your new .45:)

Still need to test Sport Pistol in .45.

I already stock lpp for my 10mm so not a big deal, just ordered 2k cases here on thr all large primer so good to go, I ordered 230 grain jhp from zero bullet, I use them in my 10mm and like them so going to try them in 45acp

Got my pistol today, 6 inch groups at 15 yards, boy did I feel it after 50 round, I'm ordering reloading supplies tonight :D
The wife enjoys shooting her Mod2 45acp.. It is also the one she decided to keep in her nightstand.
I have loaded 5.0gr HP-38 under 200gr plated bullets and for us it was OK, though we have found a load of 7.5gr of Ramshot Silhouette with a 200gr plated bullet to work wonderfully and with mild recoil.

Hope you enjoy that new Mod2!

My Bersa Thunder ultra-compact with the 3.6" barrel had a very sooty muzzle after every range session, no matter what the ammo. I mean it was caked with soot enough to totally discolor the last inch until a good cleaning. Says alot about stnadard loads and how thry burn in short barrels, I tnink. And the fireballs it spewed made the choir.

I shoot bullseye pistol every week and my go to load in my Springfield range officer is 7.5 grains of #5 and a 200 grain SWC from Badman bullets.

My XD mod 2 45acp with 3.3" barrel shoots everything I have thrown at it and shoots it quite well. I am a 1911 fan and have several different 45acp loads from softer target 185 loads to stiffer 230g self defence loads and even 118g ARX composite bullets. I found my XD m2 shoots all of them well, and didn't need any load work up for accuracy or reliability.

As a 1911 fan I found I like my XD mod 2 3.3 much better than I ever thought I would. It isn't a target or competition gun but it is my night stand gun with the extended magazine. It also makes a nice concealed carry gun with the flush magazine. For me it a perfect woods gun with good power, good capacity in a lite weight but easily controllable package. I like the extra grip safety... aka 1911. And the trigger is actually quite good... for a striker fired pistol... just what I want in a carry gun. I find the grip to be quite a bit more comfortable than most striker fired pistols. I have steered 2 new gun owners to the XDm2 3.3 and they have both been very pleased with their purchase. They both appreciate 45 acp power, round capacity and the shooting attributes of the XDs m2.

Good choice! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
