I have been friends with Kaido on FB for some time now. The other day we were chatting and he mentioned that he only had two 2 cavity 140 gr .36 VKV molds left.
Since reading about the 140 grain .36 with the excellent vkv design known for delivering energy to targets I suspected it would be the ideal bp .38 special replacement for a woods pistol. Reviews and YouTube videos tend to support that hypothesis.
The 240grain VKV by Kaido has made a name for itself dropping hogs, Kaido let one get close enough to get 'words of advice' from Hovey Smith in a recent video. Hovey always the gent advised Kaido to shoot the charging boar first then take pictures, Kaido says he was having trouble with his phone and cleanly took out the hog before it got close enough to pet.
In Cali another shootist used their Navy caliber smoke wagon to take out a charging pig with two well placed shots using the 140 grain VKV but nobody including the lucky shootist endorse the Navy for wild hogs that I've read.
Kaido tells the the six cavity mold is the one to have, but the two cavity is more affordable and is more like training wheels. Perfect for me. So if anybody wants the other 140 grain 2 cavity mold for the VKV universal bullet get at Kaido. Or any of his other molds. He also has a 260 grain VKV for the ROA, a 145 in .36, a 220 and a 240 in .44 as well as the big ROA @ 260 grains.
I'm pretty stoked. Kaido wants me to send my 1851 away for sight surgery, I'm thinking I might buy a pietta .36 1858 belt pistol/sheriffs model instead. 20190712_152938 (1).jpg

Its .377 diameter for the large band of the .36 cal 140 grain kaido bullets. The .145 cal is .380 on the large band. Both bullets are tapered for an easy chamber fit. By far one of my favorite and most accurate bullet...gives the underrated and underappreciated .36 navy cal a whole lot of punch. I love it. If you watch Mike Bellevue's video of his 1861 pietta using round ball, kaido 140 grain .36 cal, and a pointed paper cartidge bullet....the kaido bullet has far better accuracy than even the round ball. I only shoot .36 cal revolvers and i only shoot two bullets...kaidos and a custom i designed thats basically a tapered R.E.A.L bullet for .36 navies. Cant go wrong with kaidos 140 grain .36 cal conicals and im sure its the same for his 145 grain versio. Although my 140 grain mold spits out bullets weighing 143 grains as i use pure lead

Thank you.
I lean towards the 44/45 calibers, but have several 36's. Have never uses conicals as most simple cant be loaded with the cylinder on the gun, at least the few I've tried. I do all my own bullet casting so a conical mold throwing bullets I can load on gun would be ideal.

Heres a pic of kaido 140 grain bullet next to my custom 130 grain bullet i designed from accuratemolds.com, its basically a tapered REAL bullet for a .36 cal cap n ball. Both are more accurate and harder hitting than round ball. The custom conical i designed has very large lube grooves which help a lot with fouling although with such a short barrel im sure i can get by with the same design that has smaller lube grooves and bumping the weight from 130 grains to about 140ish grains easily. But kaidos....great all around design and can vouche for them as an actual user. 20190126_105547.jpg

Mr.whughett, also kaido conicals can be loaded on gun using the lever without any modifications to the frame...fit both 1851 and 1861 models of both pietta and uberti without issue.

The only way to get kaidos mold is by emailing him directly....and the other bullet mold is a custom mold i had made through accurate molds. Bottom band .362, middle band .370, top band .380....fits perfectly in all my pietta .36 cal revolvers. My first design was with a .368 bottom band and .375 middle band and .380 top band but thats for pietta revolver cylinder chambers that have been reamed to be .372-.375 to make them match or be over groove diameter by up to .003 of an inch for better accuracy. Either size will work for ubertis but recommend the larger banded version since ubertis usually come with chambers of .375
