With PSA and other makers gratuitously capitalizing on the People's patriotism (said entirely tongue in cheek btw), am I insane for wanting to start collecting these special engraved lowers and displaying them in a case of some form?

If you have the room and the budget, I say go for it. With the prices what they are now, they will only appreciate in value.

probably right, that they'll appreciate in value faster than my bullion stash.

I say go for it. The Betsy Ross flag lower that PSA made was sold out within 24 hours of getting the email blast, or I would have ordered one of those for the same reason. Maybe not on display, but have.

Reminds me of the American Historical Foundation that consistently pedals gold plated firearms to former Beany Baby collectors in the hopes of it becoming a pot of gold.

Well we all know how dramatically all those Winchester commemorative rifles have gone crazy in price. Not...

Must be thousands of those things sitting around unfired waiting for the market to notice. I can only imagine some of them go for less than a plain Jane version would because of the inherent gaudiness.

Pirate versions of AR lowers? You want to be a pirate, go to sea. They may still have opening in Somalia after that SEAL slap down. lol

Collect what brings you joy.
I collect pipes. Of course I don't just let them sit on a shelf, I smoke them.
But some folks think that's silly. I don't care. I like them.

While the 1776 Flag sold out quickly the other models since then do not seem to have much appeal. Maybe AOC or some other celebrity needs to attack them as being racist, etc.

Of course that is keeping the price low so it is easy and affordable to it them. I like The Minuteman but my bank account is tapped out at the moment.

On the other hand in another year and half they all may become illegal to own.

Lower receivers have a way of not remaining "orphans" very long. They cry out to get built into complete guns. Therefore, I don't think that amassing a collection of just lowers is very viable. Eventually, you will find yourself completing them.

LOL! That made me laugh pretty good.

My kids are of an age such that I hear that word quite often in my house. I actually find the whole "yeet" thing extremely amusing. So often kids learn some new joke, word, or concept, and blindly assume its unique to their generation (we did the same when we were kids, with jokes, words, and ideas that our parents and grandparents learned the same way at that age).

But "yeet" is actually something they DID come up with, and I find the while thing hilarious.

Sorry, I wont de-rail the thread any further :)

If nothing else, it’ll be ironic when collections of speciality lowers with things like “Don’t Tread on Me” get turned in or confiscated when they’re finally banned and not grandfathered...

Similar here. I'm a middle-aged guy. I heard it from younger folks.

Funniest use was during a USPSA match, when one shooter asked another very fast (and somewhat younger) shooter how to shoot a stage as quickly as he was doing them. His advice: "You just yeet it." That cracked me up.

All I can say is if collecting that type of lower floats your boat get after it. I seriously doubt they will ever gain in value but so what. I collect ceramic frogs ( I can't believe I just admitted that). I don't expect them to ever make me a profit. I just like to look at them.
