Saturn Powder Funnels

I found a small SS funnel that would drop into the Satern, so I figured I would cut the Satern down and seal the gap between it and the small SS funnel, but when I cut it down and dropped the little funnel in the gap was biger than I thought it was going to be. So, I grabbed some thin foil tape (Used to seal/tape up ductwork) and stuck a small piece inside and out over the spot that I sanded through.

Worked great, just charged 70 cases using it. Now I just need to even up and smooth out the top edge.

Powder and dust do not get hung up on the tape edge???????

The urge to spend on funnels is abating.

Following my idea of the funnel fitting inside the brass, I cut the top off an 8mm and glued it to my funnel. It fits perfectly in a .45 caliber case. NO, I wouldn't use it on a .45ACP, but all my .458 SOCOM brass is loaded right now, so for the picture I used .45ACP. I don't reload any other rifle brass right now so if/when I do I'll have to find other brass to use as an "adapter".

Not with RL-15 it doesn't, it really doesn't have "dust" like some pistol powders. The tape is much, much thinner than the ridges were.

Kind of late to this one but I prefer to use the Lyman pan for weighing and skip the funnel.

I guess you are either picking the case up or moving the funnel from case to case...

That’s my favorite, but I’m finishing one round at a time, not charging cases in a batch. One of the benefits of single loading on a progressive press

Y'all are very kind, but my Area 419 funnel along with 6MM and 30 Cal funnel heads should be here tomorrow. :)

Wait a minute---- I was told decades ago, if it ain't broke, don't replace it, or something like that. I will stick with the crimp until it opens up and becomes useless to me. If I start with another caliber, I will get a super duper funnel because I might be changing powders to something like Varget.

In for the report!
While they are very nicely made, I am sad to say I do not like the Area 14 funnel/funnel heads. The inner diameter of the "funnel head" is larger than needed, and the case doesn't go very far up into it either, which lets the funnel flop side to side more than I can live with.

Very disappointing. My gut told me to order the Precision Hardcore funnel in the first place, but I cheaped out and bought the Satern, should have gone with my gut.

I don't usually send stuff back (Can't remember when) simply because I do not like it, after all, there is no defect, it is actually very well executed, but at this price point, it sure is tempting. I'll be using my little patched up Satern.

Well that stinks.....not the adapters....the fact that that are unobtainium.....unless you are a machinist and can make your own. That's some fine knurling....

jmorris: you're looking for a new business model, right? ;) Even the one in the video made for the RCBS funnel isn't half bad.

Also stinks that the latest ones Walkalong just bought were made of disappointium.... I was wondering, after reading all the reviews.

I have to say the alum. tape save was quick thinking.....aluminum tape.....wonder if taping the inside of a plastic funnel would stop the static? May have to see.

I have a small SS funnel that just does fit in a fired .35 Remington case mouth. I could make an adapter for it, and just might. Wouldn't be any harder than making my powder drop bushings for my LNL/Projector/home made/Redding measure setup.

And actually, I have made some SS ones that work better because they are heavier. They have to slide up and down, with down being from their own weight.

For rifle.
