I was able to check out a P365XL this morning and like pretty much everything about it. I plan on picking one up but am wondering if there will be problems with the early ones as there were with the P365, or if having worked out the bugs on the P365 the XL's are good to go. Has anyone heard any feedback or have thoughts on this?

I would think SIG crossed their T's and dotted their I's before releasing the XL. Too many recalls and people are going to start to think their guns are overpriced....;)

It basically the same gun, just a little larger. Will the mags from the XL and regular 365 interchange? (ala G26 and G19?)

The mag for the XL will fit in the 365. Not sure it will go the other way though. The XL is built around the 15 round mag.

I’m caving. I’m bringing one of my safe queens to a LGS tomorrow to either trade it or put it on consignment and buying the XL. It’s too good of a CC gun to pass up.

I’m sure you’ll like it, seems like one of the ideal sizes for carry. Let us know how it goes. I’ll be right behind you shortly. :uhoh:

The only thing I have against the XL is that Sig did away with the option to use a ten-round magazine. I see no need for this. Anyone wanting more than ten could use the P365's extended magazine. I've read that the XL's slide and barrel will work on a P365. However, it's sad that you have to buy them separately when they could just as easily been an option on the P365 for a few more dollars.

Preferences, I prefer that they lengthened the grip to avoid having magazine fillers which can pinch hands on reloads or cause potential issues reloading as I wouldn't carry the 10 round mag anyways (unless visiting a freedom restricting state). And it's not like $19 for a P365 frame is breaking the bank if one wants a P365XL with a P365 frame. That's what I don't get, these are highly modular pistols that really can be configured however one wants them for not much money.

Prefer the grip on the P365xl but want your shorter P365 slide, buy a P365xl grip = $19+ when they start selling them, haven't seen the cost on these yet, so assume more than $19.

I bought it today, but being in Illinois I need to wait until Sunday to pick it up. One thing to be aware of with the 15 round magazines if you have a P365 and P365XL is that per Sig, if you use the base plate for the XL you risk over inserting the magazines if you use them in the P365, as the sleeve is shorter to accomodate the longer grip of the XL.

I read it comes with the 12 round mag, personally, I don't get why anyone would want a larger version of what was supposed to be the smallest 9mm gun that took a high cap mag? Seems like a reach.
Sig’s answer? The Sig P365 XL.

The P365XL offers a full length grip that accepts flush-fit 12 round magazines that come with the pistol and a long slide for an improved sight radius (and an increase in velocity). It also can accept extended 15 round magazines and comes standard with a flat x-series trigger. Also, with new micro red dots for these smaller cow pistols, Sig sends the P365XL already milled for an optic!

I had the chance to shoot it today. It wasn't a true test of it as I had an angioplasty done a week and a half ago and they went in through the right wrist. I had to shoot left handed only as it'll be another 2 1/2 weeks before the wrist is 100%. I shot 300 rounds of Wolf ammo and HST 124 +P with no issues. The recoil to me was a little less than my Gen 5 Glock 19, and at 25 yards I was hitting center mass pretty consistently. I'm liking this gun. 13 or 16 rounds in a gun that's this small, thin, accurate and easy to shoot is impressive.

On an unrelated note, if you haven't done so get yourselves checked out by your doctor. My angioplasty is an inconvenience for a month, but I knew the blockage was there, was under a cardiologist's care and addressed it early with no damage to the heart and a quick, full recovery. Left untreated, within 6 months I would have had the heart attack called the widow maker.

Got mine 2 weeks ago. 200 rounds that afternoon, right out of the box without cleaning it. (I can hear the collective gasps; one of the gun writers I respect recently wrote in a column he thinks any modern gun that can't be shot out of the box isn't worth the box it ships in -- so I decided to try it.) Shot out the center ring at 7 yards with the first 50 rounds. Moved back to 15 yards, and my groups opened up a lot more than I'd have liked with the remaining 150 rounds. No FTFs, no stovepipes, no issues at all.

It's little snappy, but on par with my Shield. The trigger was moderately gritty when I dry fired it out of the box, but it's already smoothed out after a good cleaning in between two sessions at the range.

My only gripe so far is that the grip doesn't fill my hand as much as does my original S&W Shield. I bought a Hogue HandAll grip made for the 365 since Hogue hasn't released one for the XL yet. It fits well, but is about 1/2" too short. Now the grip fits my hand much better. Once Hogue releases the proper grip, I'll definitely snag one.

Another 100 rounds yesterday with the Hogue grip in place, and my groups have tightened up. I'm still not shooting this little gun as well as I know it can, but if this is gonna replace my P320C as my EDC, I'm going to put another 1000 or so rounds thru it before I'll be comfortable carrying it.

The night sights are smallish, but quite easy for my tired old eyes to focus on in total darkness. They are perfectly adequate in daylight, and (for now) I don't have plans to swap them out. I'm ambivalent about the soon-to-come Romeo 0 red dot. I have my name on the list at my LGS but I still haven't decided whether or not to actually buy it.

As a side note: there aren't many holsters for the XL just yet. However, it fits perfectly in the smaller Muddy River Tuckable IWB leather holster. I've been carrying it around the house in the Muddy River, and it is noticeably lighter and smaller than my P320C.I got an email from Vedder day before yesterday letting me know their LightTuck is shipping -- already ordered one. (The Vedder is one of the two IWB holsters I use for my P320C.)

So far, I haven't found any issues like the ones that plagued the original 365s. If this continues to perform as well as it's started, it will be my new EDC soon.

If you like leather TTGuleather is making XL holsters. He does good work and I think his wait time is just 2-3 weeks. Just an fyi.

GASP!
