PMAGS

I got my first PMAGs in 2009 at $30 each. May have to replace all my metal GI magazines finally.

Seems to me that the M2s have been on Clearance for a LONG time (like, years).

Early on, I thought that it must signal a HUGE stockpile of M2s being cleared out for the new M3s, but ...

... the Sale just keeps going and going and going ... :)

I think that the 30s are nice but I really like the new 20 PMAGS.

O'course, I'm one of those guys who much prefers the old-style straight-20 USGI AL mags, so ... ;)

I think Magpul did stop making windowed and colored Gen 2's, so you may have seen those on clearance. But they're still making black Gen 2 PMAGs. If the molds are still in good shape they might as well just let their presses keep cranking out parts, and just running one color is cheaper than swapping colors and wasting all the mixed color mags that come through in the interim and readjusting the programming (different colors often need different processing parameters because they shrink differently as they cool).

If you ever shoot prone or benched, the appeal of the 20 (and even 10) rounders becomes apparent.

Yes, of course ... but my interest is more rooted in the look (aesthetics) & handling of 20s in the rifle(s) vs 30s, whether on the bench, prone or afield (which may include prone ;)).

EDIT: For the same reason, when I head out for a walk around the farm carrying one of my AKs, it will sport one of the shorter Hungarian(?) 20-rd mags (that 1st popped up on the market for a brief time 15-16 years ago) rather than one of the standard long 30s. :)

I picked up 10 more 30 round PMAGs. Going to pick up another few D&H 30 round aluminum mags, as well as 20 round PMAGs.

The 20 round mags are by preferred all-use magazine, however ... for bench shooting as noted above, for the aesthetics, etc...

I remember when people were selling these mags for $75 each back in early 2013.

Which is why I have somewhere around a hundred gen 1 and 2 mostly black 30 round mags (with a few 20 round mags) all in original packaging. I have a few dozen other brands, mostly D&H. I plan to sell them for triple what I paid when they eventually go for twice what I'm asking. I figure that way, we all win.

I know this isn't a finance forum, but putting your hard earned money in an index fund is a much safer way to double and triple it than hoping 30 round magazines are banned in the next 10 or 15 years. Regardless, if they ever are banned I'm sure as **** never selling my stash! What I don't use up will get passed on to my kids.

Palmetto has the same Gen 2 mags for $7.99 free shipping with 10 or more using code PMAG.

Thanks to SlowFuse for starting this thread and to mdThanatos for the PSA note.

Sales Tax added another $0.59 to the cost of each PMAG, but $8.58 each delivered was hard to pass up (although I still have not opened my last box of $7.99 30-round GEN2 PMAGs from PSA!)

I may well go broke someday by saving money like this :)

I have a BOX FULL of 30 rnd magazines. I assure you I don't intend to make a penny on 'em! I have other better ways of making $$$$ (your index fund suggestion is good). Those magazines may come in useful for their intended purpose.;)
