Yes. I am guessing that you mean the industry standard, industrial hard chrome, and not bumper chrome or nickel. Doesn't matter anyway as any shop that does industrial hard chrome plating can remove any of those platings. Many of those shops offer bluing and other finishes along with the chrome. One shop that I have used many times is APW in Alabama. I began using him for hard chrome work in the 1980s when he was located near Clearwater, FL. http://apwcogan.com/ Their bluing is pretty decent and I have been satisfied with it for the average gun, but they are not the go to for restoration to factory original condition bluing. If you are looking for a super high polish, collector grade blue with perfect detailing, crisp lettering, etc there are other shops that are better, but most of them do not offer hard chrome plating/removal. That would be shops like Glenrock or Turnbull. So, depending on your wants, it might take trips to two shops and more money. Actually, lots more money.
Spending a lot of $ is not feasible for this handgun, cause it is not worth much. The plating on the gun has flaked in spots, ands I was hoping that there was a home shop method to remove the plating altogether.
What brand/model/age is the gun? Are you sure that it is chrome and not nickel? Either can be mirror like or various degrees of gloss from matte to mirror. Electroless nickel can be stripped at home. Brownells sells the solution and kits to do so - https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-...oom-temperature-nickel-stripper-prod1102.aspx
If it is electroplated nickel you have other issues. It is very hazardous and should be handles by a shop that specializes in that stuff. APW can probably help. It wouldn't hurt to call them up. If it's Bob that answers be prepared to spend an hour on the phone. Lol!
I presume you are considering doing the bluing yourself?
You know BBBB, I'm not sure now if the gun is chrome plated or nickel plated. It is a Classic Arms Twister derringer. Like I said, the gun is not worth a whole lot, so I don't want to spend big $ on it. I guess I will just live with it like it is.
