I picked up this beauty , a 1973 3rd issue Colt Detective Special 6 shot , I had some nice Badger custom grips to install thus saving the originals for safe keeping.
SWEET! I was going to buy one recently, but my LGS sold it the day before I showed up with my trade-ins to bring it home. Congratulations to the OP. I hope to have one of my own eventually.
Congratulations! I have a 1949 Detective Special in .32 Colt New Police (.32 S&W Long) with the factory hammer-shroud. My absolute favorite revolver to shoot!
For many years I carried one as an off duty pistol and now, long retired, I still carry the same '74 manufactured Colt Detective Special with the original Bake o Lite grips and Hornady Critical Defense loads.
Very good find. The DS is a great gun. I do like the aftermarket grips you found. I'm sure I would like the way they fit my hand better as well. I like a slightly longer grip than a standard D Frame Factory Grip. My Pinky has no where to go!
