Congratulations. I dearly love the detective and that is my favorite generation.

My favorite .38 Special is the Colt Detective Special. The S&W Chief's Special has a place in my heart but the Colt is just a little better IMO.

The last few times I've had to shoot some qualifying it has been with my Detective Special.

Congratulations! I have a 1949 Detective Special in .32 Colt New Police (.32 S&W Long) with the factory hammer-shroud. My absolute favorite revolver to shoot!

For many years I carried one as an off duty pistol and now, long retired, I still carry the same '74 manufactured Colt Detective Special with the original Bake o Lite grips and Hornady Critical Defense loads.

Very good find. The DS is a great gun. I do like the aftermarket grips you found. I'm sure I would like the way they fit my hand better as well. I like a slightly longer grip than a standard D Frame Factory Grip. My Pinky has no where to go!

Nice find! I liked the Detective Special and the Agent but usually gravitated to the slightly smaller S&W J frame snubbies.
