Just wondering your shooting preference, the question and poll pertains mainly to handgun and rifle

Personally I am a bullseye target shooter mostly

I've done this and that but these days it is mostly IDPA and USPSA and local offshoot action matches.
Maybe it is RAD (Retiree Attention Deficit) but I now find precision loading and slow careful shooting tedious with low Fun Factor.

lol I'm different that way, course shooting? love to do shotgun clays where I can use a golf cart to go to each station or walk it, but running and shooting sweating my .. off running out of breath? in Florida heat?, low on my fun factor ha ha

Hi...
I used to, once upon a time, shot handguns competitively but aging eyes pretty much made me non-competitive.
Today, I shoot for hunting with rifles, handguns and shotguns.
I shoot targets for accuracy.
I shoot clay birds with shotguns for fun and hunting practice.
I do defensive handgun drills with my carry guns on paper and steel.
Sometimes I just plink at reactivate targets for fun.
I think I have all the bases covered.

I have the most fun playing the “action” gun games. Hunting is enjoyable as well as is precision shooting but they don’t get the ticker pumping as much, that’s actually counter productive in precision shooting.

NONE of the above - you left out ALL of the shotgun sports: ATA Trap, NSSA skeet, Int'l Trap, ISSF Skeet, 5-stand/Compak, sporting clays, Super Sporting, FITASC, ZZ birds and live box pigeons.

Not EVERYONE is die hard metallic.......:p:neener::thumbup:

Yea, that about sums it up for me too. Even though I voted in your poll, I don't consider hunting to be a "sport" so much as a way of feeding me and mine. My favorite shooting "sports" are trap and skeet. So much so that I bought my own clays machine so I could shoot at home rather than going to the range. It's also a lot of fun to load up the machine, some guns and cartridges, and get together with my friends and family during holidays, birthdays and etc. Most of my family shoots, and Dad loves to run the machine so he can try and trip us up. He'll keep you on your toes, for sure! There's lots of friendly trash-talk and some sibling rivalry, but its all in good fun and we have a ball. As a matter of fact, we'll have the annual family "skeet shoot, bass tournament, and fish fry" in September for Dad's birthday. There will be about 5 to 6 hundred rounds fired that day between us and we'll have a heck of a good time doing it.

It has changed over the years. I've always been a hunter. I've also shot High-Power, Bullseye, bowling pins and lately long range bench rest.

I hunt paper (targets, bulls eye and computer generated fun, paper plates)

I enjoy reloading; for years just did standard reloading, standard RCBS dies, follow standard recepie.

I in no way am chasing a one hole load. I shoot and reload to have fun. This site has lots of information on both, but alot makexs reloadin tedious and not fun, so I extract what suits me; single stage press, anneal by hand, size sometimes full, sometimes neck, powder measure, pacific powder balance, don't have all the "competative / precision" tools.

My wooden warriors continue to equit themselves well. I love to tinker, but obsessing over the last "silly millimeter" (compliments of Virginia Slims) is past my point of diminishing teturns.

Tried to pick two. Hunting and Action that wasn't an option so no vote for me.

I picked hunting, always has been. But back in the day, IHMSA shooting ran a close second. Nowadays, plinking comes in second as my favorite shooting sport, even though it is what I do the most of.:)
I practice a lot with my carry and home defense guns too. But that's practice. To me, "practice" for anything is not exactly a sport. And I don't mean to ruffle any feathers here, but I seldom "enjoy" it very much.

I have two actually, hunting and service rifle competition of which bullseye is the closest match from the given choices. But I marked my favorite as hunting since I started service rifle competition initially to become a better and more ethical hunter as well as for fun. I did become a much better marksman so I guess the hunting goal was realized. I haven't been in a major match yet this year due to a pinched nerve in my back which keeps me from maintaining a prone position for any length of time. Hopefully I'll be ready again in the fall.

Thanks for the replies so far I realize many of you may do multiple sports but I made it one choice to see what the results are when given the choice of one that defines you best.

Metallic silhouette shooting. I shoot rimfire pistol, rimfire rifle and centerfire lever gun classes. Shot rimfire benchrest for a long time but got bored with punching holes in paper.

Hey!
I agree, "None of the Above", but I have to differ: Once you have been bitten by the High Power Metallic Silhouette bug, there is no going back. Some of the smallbore Metallic silhouette guys might argue, and I could be convinced, I guess. I love them both.

Plinking and hunting. I enjoy shooting random targets around in my woods for fun. I also enjoy hunting my land to put food on the table. I occasionally have to put down critters going after our chickens, but that’s not for enjoyment, just a necessary part of the lifestyle, but the dogs usually do most of the heavy lifting on that front.
