An old Mossberg .22lr. Mostly just for fun - seeing how well I handle an unfamiliar gun. It's a decent little shooter, but has a bit of rust on the body. May try parkerizing it before I do my Mosins (They have almost no bluing left and have rusted a few times)

Vintage .38spl 6" S&W Model 1905 revolver (a bit over 90 years old).

I setup in the backyard at the "handgun range" and did a ~7m accuracy-test run (no CHRONY, too miserable out there today) with slightly less than 100 rounds representing 4 different load levels (3.8, 4.0, 4.2 and 4.4gr) of 231 and 3 different types of 158gr bullets (plated SWC, hi-tech coated SWC, swaged SWC).

The winner ( for all 3 bullet types, thankfully)? 4.4gr with 4.2 a close 2nd.

Today was a 3Gun Match, so:

CZ 75 "Accu-Shadow" light in 9mm
Home built 3Gun AR.

200 rounds of 10mm through a Sig P220 and 150 rounds of 9mm through a Sig P938.

Killed three Richardson's Ground Squirrels with NEF Sportster in .17 HMR with 3.5x10 Leupold on top.

Well...we made it back out to the gun club today to have a nice relaxing morning on the handgun range.
Shot most of my revolvers in.357, .41, 44Mag and .45Colt. My son shot his .357Mag revolvers, a Ruger 1911 in 10mm and his .45Auto. He spent most of the morning shooting my revolvers.
We sent quite a few hundred rounds down range.
Now I have some brass to tumble and start processing...after I get them separated. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow or Tuesday...hard to say, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and the grounds of the Estate are starting to look like I need to get the Cub Cadet riding mower out.

I might be retired but that doesn't mean I have a lot of free time. Some days it feels like I have less free time now than when I was working.

Not today, but on the fifth of July, one of our son's Christmas gift from his wife.

These two took turns two days ago.
For the 460, 2 different loads of powder, one at 45 grains of 4227 (16 rounds) & (15 rounds) of 44 grains of H110 both launching 240 grain XTP Mag.
The Virginian Dragoon in .44 magnum shared two loads also.
One load was 21 grains of 2400 pushing a 200 grain XTP mag and the other was 17.5 grains of H240 pushing my cast 225 grain HP.
It was fun going back and forth between the 2 revolvers, made me laugh shootin' the 44 after the 460, kinda like when push comes to shove

Another fun-filled day at the gun club.
Son did a ladder test of handloads on two rifles...a Rem700 in .270 and the AR he built fore in .233Wylde.
We are beginning to find some nice accurate loads at 100yds using Hornady bullets...much more testing to do until we are satisfied.
Then we retired to the handgun range...shot a lot of 10mm, .357, .45Colt, .41Mag, and .44Mag. All handloads functioned perfectly and accuracy was good to excellent at various ranges.
A lot of brass(full Folgers large coffee can) to run through the tumblers after I get it sorted. At least a couple hundred rounds of revolver brass and a few dozen 10mm, plus the .223 and .270 brass(25 of each).
Probably sort that and get it tumbled tomorrow while I am waiting for the dew to evaporate off the grass before I mow the grounds of The Estate.

After they are tumbled, I will have several hundred each of the revolver cartridge brass to prep for reloading on my RockChucker. The 10mm gets reloaded on the Hornady LnL set up in large primer.
My son will continue to experiment with more rifle loads using my RockChucker Supreme. He is really enjoying this load development and ladder testing with rifle cartridges.

120 rds. of 9mm at 5 yds., one handed, (torn rotator cuff),from the holster, 8" target, trying to get it under one second. Made it a few times.
20 rounds of .308 from 600 yds, small silhouette target, 16 hits. Used to do better, suspect my barrel is getting tired...

The rest of me sure is...

Shot 223rem at 200-300 yards yesterday. I was trying to make a dope chart for my rifle, but due to high volume of shooters and only having an hour to get this done I didn't get much precision. Barrel got really hot yesterday and didn't like some of the loads. It will take a woodchuck out at 300 yards so that was the goal. I couldn’t see center shots so went to shooting the posts. I have a little work to do.

We went up to my buddies place in the hills and spent the afternoon playing with guns. Four of us got to ring some steel with my Henry single shot in .308 that just got a new scope. A Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x 24 mm on a 30mm tube and we chronographed his braked 30-378 Weatherby. That muzzle brake actually works ! Takes a lot of the kick out of that thing. We also did some plinking with a few handguns and his 30-30. Weather was perfect and a good time was had by all. Plans are for a repeat performance next weekend with a few different guns.

Shot El Presidente drill With a Model 10, Model 28,and a Model 586 S&W. Then with a Ruger 1911, a Colt 1911.38 super and a sig 320. Great day. Repeated it later.

The bull. But I bought a rifle scope in the process.

Up at my buddies place again today for some chronographing, sighting in, and general target and plinking fun. Chronographed a 340 Weatherby, a 300 Win. Mag. in a Browning X Bolt "White Gold Medallion" edition, and my Ruger Single Six with the 22 Magnum cylinder. Also had some fun with the Ruger PC Carbine that recently received a Holographic sight that was sitting around unused. Good fun..PC carbine 300 Win Mag.- 340 Wby -.

I shot some laddered hand loads in my Glock 40. 2 seperate powder ladders and a couple primer and brass differences to monitor any potential issues. Roughly 120 rounds.
Shot a set of ladder hand loads in my CPX-2. 2 workups with different powders. And some Winchester white box to get the factory load "feel". Roughly 60 rounds.
Got to shoot a couple clips each out of my buddy's CP-07, VP9, and Glock 26. The CZ and the HK were impressive!

Took my step grand daughter over to my friends small ( out to 50 yd.) range behind his house. Spent a few hours plinking with .22's and a few rounds through the 9mm PC Carbine. Had the Savage Rascal out with the Henry .22 Lever gun with red dot. My friend brought out his Winchester Model 1890 Gallery gun; which is an octagon barrel .22 pump that takes 22 shorts only. Didn't get pictures of everything because I was having too much fun ! The Rascal rode in the gun rack of my truck today that normally only sees my snow brush / ice scraper in the winter. We were joking about how many decades its been since we saw a gun in the rear window of a pickup.

Ain't that the truth.........
Anyways, in Minnesota during high school it was uncool ( in some cliques) to not have a gun rack in the back window of one's pick-up, even though the long gun had to be cased and un-loaded.
Those gun racks also held a purpose to hang baseball caps and other unmentionables.
Good times over four decades ago.!
Maybe a time now to do that again, no , I am not going to advertise.Too old for any crap coming my way, no matter what is in the gun rack!

Silly me..... My memory ain't what it once was. Calling them "gun racks" when everyone in the 21st century knows that they're just "General purpose storage racks". They now get a lot more use in winter.
