The squared off butt stock does wonders for it.
It also gives it the same length-to-sight as an M1 Garand.
So, with a proper cheek weld, you get a crystal clear front sight in an aperture a blade's width wider than the dog ears.

Shame on you folks for continually putting this carbine on my radar.
Though I own several ARs and an AK, I do plan on owning both a Mini14 and Mini30 eventually.

I had 2-3 of those back in the day. I didn't dislike them, didn't like them enough to keep one long either. But at times do wish I'd kept one of them. I had one in SS with the synthetic stock in the early 90's that I liked better than the wood stocks. Those with no checkering they are just too slick for me. But I won't pay today's prices for one.
