I had one years ago. Extremely accurate, camo finish came off just by looking at it too hard. Stripped it down to bare alloy, and had a beautiful 2-tone grey. Foolishly sold it to fund an AR purchase, should have just saved a little longer. Again, lots of fun to shoot, magazines have come way down (I paid $40 for mine), but the finish won't last.

I have 2 of them.
The bottom one is a stock version, shoots almost anything, has a decent trigger and is pretty accurate. A great gun for the money.

The top one has a lot of mods, runs great on high velocity ammo and is extremely accurate.

I don't have a dedicated gun, but I have one of their .22LR 1911 conversion slides. Despite having to do work on both my Buckmark and Ruger to make them run 100%, the GSG .22LR slide ran fine immediately.

I will say that I don't really like the sights on them, but Dawson makes a set of replacement sights for $60 that are great.

This is a well timed thread, I was just mulling over one of these vs. a upper to live on a RIA GI that has been sitting in the back of my safe. They definitely seem to get good reviews, and the price is right.

Kidneyboy, would you mind sharing a little about your mods, part compatibility, etc.?

Slide, mainspring housing and magwell, compensator, internals and mag extensions are from cwaccessories.com. Stoner grips. Zero compatibility issues. Likes to be cleaned and lubed every brick or so. I had a gunsmith do a trigger job otherwise everything was pretty straight forward.
Trigger parts, hammer and safeties are 1911 parts. I believe it's 80s series safeties.

Thanks evrryone, I did buy and shoot a new GSG and am very happy with it. Nice heft &feel, love the sights.
