Anyone know of states that may have issues with 5.56 pistols, beyond the usual suspects?

If one can legally carry a concealed handgun, and has a 5.56 pistol concealed in a backpack or some kind of case, are there situations where they are not viewed as being covered by the state's permit laws?

New Mexico may consider one a second concealed pistol and Colorado may have issues with standard magazine capacity.

For states that nominally respect our rights, has anyone heard of problems?

Interesting topic. I'm in FL abd have no idea if you can carry a loaded AR pistol, or keep one loaded in your car( or if you can keep any loaded rifle or shotgun in your car).

An AR pistol might be a decent bug out bag gun in case of an Hurricane evacuation.

That is a good reason for having a pistol that carries more capable rounds. 5.56 pistols are created as not being rifles. That allows them to normally be carried loaded when loaded rifles are disallowed.

I used the more general "5.56 pistol" since some are not based on the AR15. I have a non-AR15 5.56 pistol. A "duckduckgo.com" search will bring up lots of options.

Prompted by "Plan2Live"'s info about length limits, I've been going through state laws looking for such. Also looking for carry requirements.

Years ago, Georgia required concealed carry in a holster, but dropped that. Same for Ohio. That state used to refer to a holster while carrying in a car, many years ago and dropped the language.

Michigan references a 26" number, but the wording does not appear to limit pistols. It seems to allow items if the pistol is longer than 26 inches.

I've been only checking states at appear to want to be in the U.S.A. So far, nothing beyond South Carolina, as already stated.

Still, we all must check beforehand.

Any info muchly appreciated.
