Im not sure if this topic fits here, mods feel free to move. Does anyone have any experience with ordering reloading components; specifically powder and primers and having them delivered to base housing?

I doubt if base housing would approve. The last time I lived in base housing was during the mid 70's.We had fire safety inspections at least once a year and everything in the quarters was looked at.As far as receiving the items it would depend on the how thorough the gate security is on checking delivery vehicles.

I am sure there are servicemen/women living in base housing who participate in matches and need to reload.

I would check with base commander's office what the policies are.

Don't know about base housing, but I don't think Haz-Mat will deliver to anything but a "hard" street address, no PO boxes, etc.

I think it would be best to reach out to your first shirt or someone like that they can probably get you a decent answer and you might look whether or not there is a hobby shop or an automotive shop for personal use on base and see if they can work to accommodate you but you may need to be prepared to be told no.

The post should have a policy. I have read plenty of them for gun policies, never thought to check for hazmat, I have been TDY when I have moved guns on and off, so I wasn't reloading. I would ask whatever office it is you are supposed to check your guns into when you arrive on post. I suspect their level of friendliness on the issue will vary a bit depending on where you are. (Say, Maryland vs Texas.)

I'm guessing but I'm betting your base Px can take delivery for you and you can pick it up there. They might even be able to make the order for you.

There are active military who are world class champions in 3 gun, service pistol, service rifle and many of the shooting sports. They have to practice which means a lot of loading of ammo, try to find out what they do. Contact the USAMU @ Fort Benning and see what they say, they can probably help you.

I have an actual address on base. Im an e6, I dont live in the barracks.

In all the bases I lived in/on, I never experienced an issue with normal reloading actions and/or components.
Doing a brief look at housing regs at Forts Campbell & Benning, I see only the usual weapons/ammunition registration/storage reqm'ts. (Couldn't find anything on Lewis-McCord)

My suggestion is to hit the usual/local (on-base) Rod & Gun club and quietly inquire.

I haven't had issues getting reloading supplies (powder, primers, bullets, etc) or ammo delivered to me while living on base in family housing. I know some base orders limit the amount of ammo you can have, citing fire issues although I think it is all baloney. Ask the housing office and PMO if you cannot locate the base order or still have questions/concerns.

Excellent

Not base housing, but I have my hazmat stuff delivered to my office on post (Ft. Leavenworth) all the time. It's a real PITA having it delivered to the house due to the adult signature requirement, so I use my work address. One of the guys I was shooting/hunting with had his stuff delivered to his quarters, no issue their either.

I can't speak to on base delivery. Here's another option if all the easy stuff fails and you have a UPS office/depot near by. FedEx will not hold hazmat shipments for pickup, so you have to use UPS. First, create a UPS web account. The name and address you use on the account must match your shipping info. After the package ships and you have the tracking number, sign into the account and change the delivery instructions to have the package held for pickup at the local office. I've done this may times with Hazmat, or just plain heavy packages. You'll need ID to pick up the package.

Unfortunately, you'll find that shippers don't like (won't) keep HAZMAT in their facility for pick-up.
(Ask me how I re-learned this only yesterday)

Which shipper gave you trouble? I've not had a problem doing it on the UPS website and got no grief from the staff at my local UPS office. (It does have to be a depot office, not a UPS store.) Maybe they've changed their policy recently, my last Hazmat shipment was 6 months ago. I guess I'll find out with the next powder order.

I had the same issue 8 months ago with UPS, missed a delivery, wasn't going to be home the next day either, tried getting Brownell's and UPS to reroute, no luck. Had UPS hold it, but It had to go to a facility that would hold HAZMAT.

Good news, took advantage of Brownell's zero HAZMAT and free shipping deal for $627 worth of primers and powder. Bad news, blew through $25 worth of gas and a 1/2 days vacation going to Topeka to the facility that would hold it. Lesson learned, now it gets shipped to my office....

In my case, FEDEX would not (could not") "hold-for-pickup" when I missed a home delivery and called for a hold.
It had to come to the delivery address/house/get signed for the next day.
