With how my 1911 shoots this exact same ammo (just posted a thread on it) and all the tests I keep seeing from this ammo. I'm very happy with my choice in ammo for self defense.

I lucked into 2000 pulled bullets of 45 hst at a great price. The local watermellon population is getting decimated.

But, is 6+1 starfish... enough?

Not really... because it makes the pistol heavy and too damn fat to grip properly.

But there're these little wonders...

:D

Aw, come on now!

My 30S is 2mm wider than one of my 19's, and basically the same size.

I dont see much difference in the feel weight wise between them either.

Now, if you want to compare it to the 21......:p

AFAIK - all the .45 Mk lowers are the same, be it .3, SF, or .4.

G36 v. G30

G30s uses the G30 lower w/ a G36 upper.

Range buddy has a G41.4.

Fat.

Too big of a grip to rip.

:D

The G36, however, is only ~ an 1/8th" larger in circumference than my beloved G23.4.

Just right.

I carry Sig Vcrown 9mm and dont care how much it "starfishes" so long as it doesn't exit the criminal.

I've got capacity on my side and am putting rounds on target until the threat stops.

You can keep your fish.

Will do, thanks.

So... expansion is simply penetration control, and capacity trumps all?

Lots of hits work.

Fewer, better hits work, too.

And require fewer hits, and maybe less time needed or presented, say, for a moving target.

Although onboard misses Are nice to have.

But then, for an SD pistol? Every miss has a lawsuit attached.

I had complaints about my 30S, sure, but heavy was never one of them.

Pinching the everloving crap out of my pinkey, now that's a different story.

Edit:. Never minded the fatness, but then again I put the medium beavertail on my 21 and find a double stack 1911 just fine in the hand (a little tougher in the pants).

Yeah, sounds like fit is not your problem.

But four rounds of 230 gr. .45 ACP is just that, and I don't miss the extra weight out at the end of the grip of my holstered pistol while I walk/run/climb/swim/ride horseback/etc... (kinda sounds like a tampon commercial, without the sea breeze...)

:D

For a "carry alot and shoot when you have to" pistol?

...the G36 is hard to beat.

I haven't chrono'd my Kimber 5" barrel with any ammo at all, but with how accurately it shoots the +p HST at 25 yards a little inconsistent velocity (if it is) I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.
