This place has crazy prices on kits. At $99 shipped for a 16" upper kit and $104 shipped for a 10.5" upper kit, I decided, "What the heck!" and ordered one of each. I do not expect them to be super high quality, but they are nice to have in case politicians ban AR parts, or for a budget build, etc. I figure the barrels and upper receivers together cost $100ish and that getting a muzzle device, gas block, gas tube, and M-Lok handguard is an incredible deal. We will see if they're complete garbage or hold their own!

Just wanted to post in case anyone else was interested in getting an upper kit.

checking reviews, the company itself seems to be real hit or miss. While im tempted to risk it, i dont have a real reason to build another AR, so will pass.

Hopefully youll have a good experience with them!

I just wanted to let everyone know that my upper parts kits arrived without issue. I ordered them on 4 July and they arrived on 22 July. A week after ordering, I emailed the gentleman at Combat Armory about when I could expect the items. He responded within a day.

I am fine waiting for items to ship if I can get them for a good price and considering how I ordered it over the holiday and Combat Armory is, I suspect a very small (probably one or two man operation), I think two weeks from order to receipt is acceptable, especially at the price point.

The parts arrived without damage. The packaging was scant (grocery bag paper around barrels, plastic baggies for smaller parts, and large heavy duty plastic bags for the upper receivers and hand guards. The longer of the two hand guards had foam around it. I’m sure packaging material is minimized to save cost and although none of my items sustained damage, I would have liked to have seen a little more care in the packaging.

I haven’t looked at the items in great detail nor have I assembled either of the uppers. However, everything was present and everything seems to be good construction. We are not talking about Aero Precision or B&T quality machining of parts, but there are no blemishes, major tool marks, or concerns with the anodizing, etc. Everything seems to be on par with AR manufacturers’ budget line.

So far, I am pleased, especially for the price. As long as the parts are within spec and assemble/work without issue, Combat Armory will be a winner in my book. Not sure when I’ll do a build, but I’ll post back with how it turned out.

I hope it works out for you.

I do suggest you properly check the gas port size.

I had a friend bring me his malfunctioning inexpensive AR.

The gas port size, on the carbine length gas system, was .101"... that is huge for a carbine length gas system. Combined with a questionable recoil spring, and light buffer... those parts weaknesses, caused the hammer pin to snap in half.

Ultimately, I "suggested" he throw out / disable the huge GP barrel.. and gave him a spare take off.
Replaced the various other parts.. and gently commented " probably not a Tier 1 AR15.... "

He laughed.

And we were wondering if we’d hit rock bottom! Just tonight I ordered a complete Radical upper, 18” rifle, SS, 15” M-LOK rail, and brake for $150 from Primary Arms.

It’s been hard for me to invest in tools to build uppers when assembled ones cost so little. I don’t have a use for the one I purchased tonight, was just waiting for Brad Paisley to take the stage and thought; “why not, it’s been a week since I bought the last one”.

Glad your pleased with your purchase! please do let us know how the build goes when you get around to it.

Ive bought a number of things from them now, and have always been happy.

Shipping has been quick, and in one instance, when the wrong parts were sent, they responded immediately to my email and sent the proper parts, before I even returned the wrong ones.

They dont have a lot of stuff, but what they do, seems to be decent quality. My son has put together a couple of those upper kits and they both worked well with no problems so far. Back on Fathers day, they ran a deal for a complete kit, everything but the lower, for $195. Added an Anderson lower for $60 and he built an AR for $255.

They also sell threaded Glock barrels, and I have a couple of them. They dropped right in and have yet to be an issue. Hard to beat at $55 with one of their 15-25% off codes, which they run all the time.
