I LOVE Moms Demand Action.

THEY "Demand Action"?

GREAT! They can START, by POLICING THEIR OWN RANKS, and making SURE all other MOTHERS are MARRIED, OFF the drugs and alcohol, and bringing up their children in a two-parent home, with a solid background in ethics, social behavior, and morals.

I'm glad you guys brought this up because my first thought was, waitaminnit, this was in TEXAS, where were all the concealed carry folks?
There seems to be a misconception that Texas is somehow more "gun friendly" than other states. I'm guessing this comes from the westerns of the 50's and 60's. Not sure though. No real evidence of that myth being true that I know of.

Actually Arizona (where I thankfully now live) is rated the most gun-friendly state every year. No license needed to carry here.

I think maybe one reason for Texas' reputation could be that it is legal there to shoot someone who is fleeing with your property if it's nighttime, I think they are the only state with such a law. (Resident lawyers please chime in!)

But I suspect the percentage of people actually carrying in both states is higher than most other places.

Hopefully, you would be knowledgeable enough to know and keep in mind that governments who have a monopoly on guns kill literally millions of times more people than civilian criminals.

Do you believe this country could ever transform into Stalin's USSR?

Right around 4% of Texas adults have a LTC. However this Walmart is heavily used by Mexican citizens coming across the border to shop. From what I've read from people who live there at least 50% of the shoppers in that particular Walmart are from Mexico.

If I had to guess I'd say there MIGHT have been 1-2 people carrying in the store at that time. Most people with a LTC aren't going to run to the sound of gunfire.

Walmart is getting EXTREMELY careful. Two recent experiences:

1. When you go to pick up something you ordered online, they ask you if you want to open the package to make sure you got what you ordered, but they don't have a utility knife. Feeling sorry for the young lady who was helping me who was struggling trying to open my box with her ballpoint pen (!) and didn't respond when I asked doesn't she have a box knife, I said "Never mind, I have a knife", took my pocket knife out of my purse and opened it myself.

2. I saw an article somewhere that said Walmart sells a really good filleting knife for $4, and the reviews all said they bought an extra one because it's really good for slicing tomatoes and onions, which can be difficult with your typical kitchen paring knife. So I ordered two of them and went to pick them up. The staff person said I had to show ID because to buy a knife you have to be over 21. I am a little old lady with gray hair and if I had grandchildren they would be older than 21. The young man apologized but said it's the rule.

This was $8 Main Street Flushing near 7 train. No id needed.

You forgot well educated in America history and we'll versed in the construction and Bill of Rights

Look up Glen Oakley. He did exactly that. He was in the mall across the street when the killer starter shooting.
That's one. Out of all the recent shootings, that's one. I would say you proved his point-- that most people who carry aren't going to engage unless they have to. I certainly won't.

I wasn't disagreeing with him. Just verifying that he was correct. There was only one, (that we know of). Most people who "carry", don't actually carry regularly anyway, or at least that has been my observation. Of the ones who do, only a tiny percentage have any sort of decent training or practice regularly. As you point out, very few of those who "carry" would go to the aid of others in a situation like that. I would guess that the percentage who would is somewhat higher amongst the small number of carriers who have some good training behind them, but probably not by much.

FWIW, It's also entirely possible that Oakley was the only civilian at that mall who was carrying, especially since he was breaking store policy and possibly Texas law to do so.
