An SR (preferably without overly large LCI, maybe mag disconnect, perhaps without thumb safety) beats the heck out of RAP.

SEC 9 is different market.

Ruger screwed this up.

Yeah, I gotta agree. The SR series had more potential in the design (I removed the mag disconnect, filled some off of the LCI to make it less obnoxious, and replaced the sights with fixed fiber optics). It seems like they came out with the American just because it seemed like it was about time to introduce something new.

As far as duty-sized 9mm's go, I'd put the SR series on par with pretty much any other polymer gun.

Hey guys, I said it once, I'll say it again. Every model listed is a "distributor exclusive". I'm hoping ya all know what that means. Limited production, limited availability.

Ruger will build you just about anything if you buy enough. For stock items with a change in cosmetics it's less than 500 pieces. Since Ruger probably has the parts on hand they may just be cleaning out the parts bins to produce these.

Don't expect to see these sitting on shelves at most stores.

Buds has them for around $306-312.

I had one back a waze but when it had light strikes and had to replace the striker and spring then the trigger stopped resetting I sort of lost confidence in it.Ruger did fix the trigger but the gun sat in the safe most of the time. I see one used at Bass Pro for $449., way over priced. It's been sitting there for at least a year.I probably would buy another if I needed it. Right now I have enough guns and love my XDE and XD subcompact.

For only a few bucks more I'd get a SR9c over that Taurus whatsit for a cheap conceal carry gun.

Mine was dead reliable and ludicriously accurate for it's size. If I hadn't blown my "fun gun" budget and still need to pick up a wheel gun for the wife id seriously think of adding one just for kicks.

So Ruger have discontinued the SR series for a short period? And replaced them with what?
The SR series, expecially the SR9C always seemed to be a hot sales pistol.

A couple of things. First the LCI never bothered me, but you could simply file it down, or Gallaway has a nice LCI as a after market item. 2) there were some guns that were reported to have light primer strikes. Personally never had that problem, but again, Gallaway has a Spring kit that corrects this.
Also I love how the SR9C would take the 17 round magazine, basically converting it to a full size gun. And it looks nice with the magazine and sleeve. I now have about a dozen mags for the Ruger. I really should invest in another one and would be set for life. Really love this mild shooter.

I can only wonder if that was to see if the American sales would increase.

I for one, have a full size RAP in 9mm, and have been satisfied with my purchase. I wanted a compact, but haven't seen any locally. Then I seen the Security-9 comes in the compact. While looking online for more info about them, is when I seen the SRs were back.

I was looking at gun.deals today & noticed CDNN has the RAP compact for $299.99 if you're interested. I think the ad said shipping was from $0-$3.99.

Amusingly just today I was digging through a drawer and found a full size mag sleeve for my SR9c I sold years ago.

I should probably give it to the guy one of these days.

I got one of these for my dad about a year ago, used but unfired for $300 OTD. I put a box thru it, and as a Glock guy, I liked it. Dad is 100% happy with it. He liked my Glock but he also wanted an off switch.

He is no longer with us but I do recall when they discontinued them DPris posted about this. He said he had spoken with someone at Ruger & they said they weren't gone but just on vacation for a while or something to that effect.

What happened to DPris?

Glad to see them back. I'd just like to see them make the SR45c and while it'd be capacity challenged with only 6 rounds or something, that's the same as a Glock 30, but a Ruger SR45 at $300 beats the snot out of a Glock for over $500.

A 10mm would be cool too, but other than Springfield it seems nobody wants to make a new polymer frame 10mm. If EAA can make the Witness in a compact in 10mm, then there's no reason other US made poly pistols like the SR series or M&P line can't too.
