Pre numbered models from 1947 to 1957 the Best?

I bought a S&W M&P which left the factory in 1948 from its original owner, a Constable who carried it his whole career. He gave me the holster too but it was made for a 6" revolver and his revolver had a 4" barrel, go figure! It is my favorite revolver and reminds me what the famed S&W trigger was all about...

I also have a 1975 M36 but even though it's a great revolver the trigger is nowhere near as smooth as in the M&P.

Nice registered magnums. I wish I had the spare cash to buy one. The 1950s pre models are much more affordable. One in decent to excellent shape can still be shot without losing too much collector value.
Yes, like I said the post war 5-screw N frames are very nice also.

Here's a 1956 Pre 29...

Here's a 1950 Pre 27...its no Registered Magnum from a craftsmanship standpoint, but the bluing is perhaps the nicest S&W ever did.

From the days of the Registered Magnum, the M27 was always S&W's flagship revolver and it shows in the work they put into them.
