I need a red-dot host that will fit Trijicon, and I need it in two weeks for a class. I was planning on using it on a revolver, but it's at the factory (since April) and I was just advised it won't be returned on time.

I have everything for another K or L frame revolver in 357, but it should take moon clips. I'm leaning toward this, but wish I had been able to learn more from the one I already have before I had to buy another one.

I could also switch to an auto-loader. I know Glock MOS and CZ P10 series are optics-ready for Trijicon.

I can't wait for custom slide-milling, but I can order off-the-shelf.

Any suggestions?

2 weeks is a pretty tight timeline. If you already have a Glock 19 or 26, Brownells has some stripped slides that are cut for red dots which would let you skip having to buy a new gun just for the class.

Otherwise I think you're right, you'll be choosing between the Glock MOS, CZ, and maybe M&P if they still offer optic ready guns. The choice between those is probably going to be based more on what gun you like than what we recommend. I don't think any of those three have issues (unreliability, lack of available mags/holsters, etc) that would preclude them from being used for a class. Also remember that you'll need to have or get all the support gear for the new gun too (which can add up quickly).

Is the red dot really needed for the class? I know it's a great way to get reps in, but it might be easier to use an iron sighted gun (that you already have) for the class given the tight timeline and then take what you learn and work the red dot in during your own practice. Won't really work if the class is set up as a "handguns with red dot" type of class though.

If you have a pistol with a dovetail you could buy the adapter that goes in the dovetail and accepts the red dot. for a new gun the Canik tp9fx comes ready to mount a a red dot on.

All the major players have optics ready guns... CZ, S&W, FN, Walther, Beretta, Glock, STI, etc. etc. Plus the high end 1911 makers, so options are wide open.
