S&W Bodyguard 380

I really like the Kahr triggers. But for pocket carry, I want something without any energy stored in the action. With pocket carry, the gun is often pointing at somebody when I am sitting down, and I don’t like the idea of that. Just my own personal preference. I prefer a revolver or a true DAO hammer fired auto loader. The BG380 has both a DAO hammer setup and a firing pin block. I reckon that’s as safe as I can get for an auto loader.

Sounds like you found the perfect 380 for your needs. I think you will be very pleased.

Definitely let them know about the light strikes. They swapped the barrel and slide on mine and now you can clearly see the firing pin is making deeper indentations on the primers. Hopefully they can fix all your issues in one go.

Much appreciated. I'll do that.

I’ve now got close to 600 rounds through my Bodyguard, mostly Hornady XTP and Gold Dots. I had a set of truglo night sights installed, which are a big improvement. I also got an Alabama pocket holster for it and three additional mags for a total of 5. Next up I think I’ll try a set of mag guts to up the capacity to 7 and see if it is reliable with them.

All in all it makes a nice pocket pistol.

I kind of liked my BG380. Had a fair amount of light strikes and feeding issues. I wasn't a fan of the trigger either. But it was a hand-me-down from my father so selling it wasn't an option.

I got the Santiago Short Stroke Trigger Kit from Galloway, along with their heavy recoil spring kit. With some Hogue grips, I now love it. It's my everyday pocket carry gun serving as a backup when I throw on something more substantial. It even gets solid range time now that it isn't so snappy.

The magazine catch is a failure point. Mine broke away. I've never owned any other pistol that required me to press the catch to insert a mag.

I called S&W once I realized what was going on and asked for a replacement. I heard there was one with steel. The lady said they will only send me what the pistol shipped with and took my address. She never asked for the serial number and now weeks later I haven't seen the replacement.

I had such a bad feeling talking to here that I ordered a Galloway mag catch that is working so far.

Worst experience I've ever had customer service.

Oh, ammo with hard primers are not going to go off. Privi comes to mind.
