Not sure where to put this, but I’m a revolver guy through and through, so here it is.

Walked out to my range this morning to ding some steel targets. Took a can of white spray paint and gave them a fresh coat, then set down the can of paint, went back and made some audible dings. Walked back up, picked up the can and gave it a good shake to touch up the target and white paint started spraying everywhere - on me, my revolver, my holster, clothes, arm...you get the idea. Apparently I set the can down too close to the target and a piece of lead punctured it, but only near the top, which didn’t make it obvious until I gave the can a good shake. Needless to say it put a new twist on cleaning your gun after a range session.

Sorry to hear. Hope you can get the paint off, and be glad you didn't pop the can!!

Everything cleaned up well. I even took the opportunity to strip off some of that nasty lacquer that Uberti puts on their grips that I’ve been meaning to do for a while.

Rewind to when my buddy bought his first muzzle loader. He had a can of fl. orange marking paint. Real thick stuff. A single .58 caliber round ball made a 12' diameter orange mist and imprint on the home range. We still laugh about it to this day.

Close to the same thing happened to me. I have steel plates at 75 yards. After I painted them I set the can on the ground. To shoot the 75 yard plates, you shoot just past the 25 yard target stand. Somehow during the course of shooting wadcutters at 75 yards one of them was either low on the target or dropped a good bit at 75 yards, but when I went to paint the plates again the can was laying on its side with a bullet hole right through the middle. At least I only got paint on the ground.

My friend’s son painted some steel .22 rim fire targets with orange paint and then absentmindedly sat the can down about 20’ from the shooting tables. At some point he decided to pop the paint can with his .22 pistol and the can spun around spraying droplets of fluorescent orange paint everywhere. Paint droplets were all over the shooting table and some of the guns that were laying on the table. My friend was mad at his son but it wasn’t a big deal. We got it all cleaned up.

That can spinning around spraying orange paint everywhere was pretty impressive.
